I have been to the White Hart before and had a good meal; the pub is well situated, in a beautiful part of Rutland. It was a hot evening and they were very accommodating about getting us an outside table. What let them down was service and attitude. All the starters were excellent, it is fair to say, and the... We called in some months ago but too late for lunch. My husband has been eager since to visit because of the Monday to Thursday half priced menu. The menu choice is vast and the portion size just perfect. However, my suspicion mind is in over drive! I wouldn't want to pay the full asking price for the main course... More

Had a 3 night B & B stay at this delightful pub/hotel with group of friends (10 of us). Immediately realised this place was quite special set centrally in lovely rural village of Lydington. Run by husband and wife Stewart and Holly who were superb hosts - nothing was too much for them. We booked dinner on our first night,... More

My husband and I had the Bede room for our treat, it was my retirement gift from my boss, 2 nights b&b plus meals. We had the most amazing few days. Our room came with a massive Jacuzzi which I have to say we made full use of. We had a lovely room which also came with a shared lounge.... More

Our room was the upper storey of a former terrace house dwelling adjacent to the hotel. Nicely furnished in a pleasant rustic style with all mod cons including our own teddy bear for the night. The village is quaint and picturesque. Mine host is (I suspect) a former butcher and he is extremely affable and obliging, and a first class... More

Really welcoming staff who kept the booked table open when half our party were 45 mins late on fathers day. food was top notch, the crab and salmon starter was amazing. lovely roast beef, tender, tasty and rare. Plenty of veg and roast potatoes. Cheese board contained lots and lots of amazing cheese, maybe a couple more biscuits would have... More

We had lunch on Father's Day and disappointed. The beef was just warm and fatty, the lamb portion very small. We pointed this out to the head waitress who said that was the way it came! Side dishes ... roast potatoes over cooked, veg ok but again portions very small., not enough for three. We added for a York pudding... More

I checked the website - looks fabulous. I read the reviews - mainly good. I booked directly with the Inn over the phone, and was told I would receive an email booking confirmation, it never arrived. I turned up anyway, in the hope they had my reservation. From the outside this really is a quintessentially English Inn, even the petanque... More

Just returned from a weekend break at the Old White Hart and we had a lovely time. We didn't know Rutland (and surrounding areas) very well but the local towns (especially Stamford and Uppingham) were really nice and well worth a visit whilst the surrounding countryside was beautiful. The village of Lyddington is gorgeous - so quiet and peaceful. The... More

Looked at reviews and photos before going. Our rooms hadn't featured in the reviews. Old fashion worn rooms, right above door of pub, door shook room everytime and was noisy. Bed ok wasn't what I expected, room had small fan heater, luckily we stayed when it was sunny. Pub food good was pricey but worth it. No one around after... More
