My partner and I stayed overnight here and I have to say we had a really lovely evening. We didnt check in until friday evening and were greeted by a lovely young lady who was really pleasant and professional. She took us to our room (No.7) and I must be honest and say that the rooms are a wee bit... More

The White Lion is a beautiful old pub, sympathetically restored and refurbished to a very high quality. Part old country inn and part high class restaurant, the menu is similarly confused. At first glance it appears to be standard pub fare but the food, when it came, was superb quality cooked to a very high standard. It seems to me... More

Dined here for our Wedding Anniversary having visited the pub a few times for a drink. Really looking forward to it as the Hotel has had a makeover recently. Although the bar side is very trendy and comfortable we were slightly disappointed with the restaurant. Difficult to describe why but there was no ambience - the furniture was a mish... More

We booked an overnight stay as we had a family gathering locally to attend to. We arrived and were greeted by very pleasant staff and given our room keys. As other reviews have said the bar and restaurant and grounds were very nice. Sadly the same couldn't be said for the rooms. They were tired and in need of tlc.... More

Starting with the positives -the staff are wonderful even if they haven't received all the necessary training ie leaving a new person on reception checkout. However the accommodation is generally very tired looking. Awful Peach coloured bathroom suites with exposed pipes and wires in the bathroom. Stained carpets, black mould on the windows and marks on the walls. No headboard... More

I've visited here many times over the last few months, and every time the food just gets better. The first time I visited was over 12months ago for Sunday lunch, which was lovely, but I wasn't blown away by it. But since I've visited many times with family, friends and on my own. They allow dogs outside so I've even... More

It's gone all posh, which I thought would be a good thing. Table booked for 7.30pm, but didn't get seated until 8pm. Food order not taken until 8.30pm and food arrived about 45 mins later. We didn't finish eating until after 10pm, far later than we expected. I had the falafel, which I suggest everyone avoid - very dry -... More

This place was absolutely gorgeous the first time we came, lovely room, clean and spacious and unfortunately on return the room was shabby, old and worn out. They are doing up the front of the hotel, but feel they should be updating the rooms, If they want customers to return. I personally think when they know you are visiting them... More

We stayed here for a night in September. Six adults and three children. The rooms were as expected as the White Lion describes the rooms as outdated which in all fairness they are. For the price we had a comfortable bed and clean sheets but the bathrooms were shabby. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Only downside we were woken... More

Visited this restaurant for first time since under new ownership and wow, how things have improved. Brilliant menu with unusual options as well as old favourites. Food was excellent in every aspect and well presented with highly professional and attentive staff. Excellent atmosphere with restaurant almost full which for a Monday must tell you something. Welcome back White Lion !!.
