I haven't stayed at this Hotel as it is very local. We visited it last December for a pre Christmas meal and we were well impressed. There was a good varied menu , which also offered small portions on certain meals. The food was cooked to perfection, and considering our visit was very close to Christmas this came as a very pleasant... The bedroom that we had could have done with some TLC but it was clean, had a huge bed and was very warm on a cold winter's day. The staff that we encountered were also very friendly. What surprised us was the range of real ales available in the bar and the prices were not extortionate. Breakfast was really excellent,... More

Visited for an early evening meal on Monday 12 th jan ( having visited 2 or 3 times a week at a similar time and found the food excellent) to be served with a pie so over cooked my knife couldn't make an impression!!!! The disappointment being the waitress asking is the food ok and replying no the pie was... More

Stayed here on a stopover drive from Scotland-London. Smallest bathroon I've ever seen but everything worked, kept nice and warm. Usual full English. Had booked a table for dinner (last Sat before Christmas) in a very busy restaurant that seemed to be coping well, good food reasonably priced.

My partner and I stayed overnight here and I have to say we had a really lovely evening. We didnt check in until friday evening and were greeted by a lovely young lady who was really pleasant and professional. She took us to our room (No.7) and I must be honest and say that the rooms are a wee bit... More

The White Lion is a beautiful old pub, sympathetically restored and refurbished to a very high quality. Part old country inn and part high class restaurant, the menu is similarly confused. At first glance it appears to be standard pub fare but the food, when it came, was superb quality cooked to a very high standard. It seems to me... More

Dined here for our Wedding Anniversary having visited the pub a few times for a drink. Really looking forward to it as the Hotel has had a makeover recently. Although the bar side is very trendy and comfortable we were slightly disappointed with the restaurant. Difficult to describe why but there was no ambience - the furniture was a mish... More

We booked an overnight stay as we had a family gathering locally to attend to. We arrived and were greeted by very pleasant staff and given our room keys. As other reviews have said the bar and restaurant and grounds were very nice. Sadly the same couldn't be said for the rooms. They were tired and in need of tlc.... More

Starting with the positives -the staff are wonderful even if they haven't received all the necessary training ie leaving a new person on reception checkout. However the accommodation is generally very tired looking. Awful Peach coloured bathroom suites with exposed pipes and wires in the bathroom. Stained carpets, black mould on the windows and marks on the walls. No headboard... More

I've visited here many times over the last few months, and every time the food just gets better. The first time I visited was over 12months ago for Sunday lunch, which was lovely, but I wasn't blown away by it. But since I've visited many times with family, friends and on my own. They allow dogs outside so I've even... More
