Stayed in the Croft House as a family of seven in May 2012. This the second time my wife and I have stayed, but the first for our sons and partners and child. The location is second to none, suitably secluded, just a couple of minutes walk to the waters edge of Scapa. A car is necessary to get around,... More

We are so happy you enjoyed your stay at Buxa Croft and in Orkney. We are disappointed you had difficulty with our hot water system. The boiler is set to come on first thing (7-10AM) in morning and again in the evening (5-10PM) as most people are out sight-seeing during the day. The solar panel works throughout the afternoon providing... More

We chose to go back to Buxa having decided to travel over Easter as we knew how efficient the heating was compared to the unreliability of the weather. We weren't dissapointed with either. The chalet remain clean, bright, well equipped and with its fantastic view over to Hoy and up to Stromness. Highlights included taking the car over to Hoy... More

The best possible choice you could make when choosing a self catering property in Orkney! The views are to die for, and the Croft House is very special, with log burner, fabulous easy to use kitchen, lovely bathrooms and bedrooms. The situation between Kirkwall and Stromness worked really well for us, and is within easy driving distance of all the... More

We spent a week in Orkney and stayed in the wonderful Buxa Farm Croft House. This newly renovated farm house was perfect for our family of 5. The house was very well appointed, with everything you needed in the kitchen for self-catering meals, great heating system, cozy fireplace, well-equipped television/video equipment (to entertain the kids on rainy days!), clean comfy... A lovely apartment, warm & cosy, with lovely views. It was our first visit to Orkney and we would love to come back. Can thoroughly recommend it.

We are just back from a 4 nights stay in Orkney. The cottage really reinforces the feeling of old Scotland. A very well renovated Scottish cottage. Clean, very well furnished and good heating, which is a must in Orkney unprecticable weather! The view is unique. and a playground right outside the door, a treat for the kids! I highly recommend... We had a wonderful week in one of the chalets. Excellent location (if you like it quiet). Superb, well appointed accommodation. Very warm despite the weather not being the best. The large porch is a great drying space with plenty of room to get boots off in the warm before entering the lounge. We were there in August but I... More

Very good accommodation with everything needed. Thanks to Kathy for showing us around the accommodation and little gifts offered. Also detailed the tourist brochures that were in the chalets. Showed us the laundry facilities. If we go self catering to Orkneys again, this will be our stop. Nicely placed between Kirkwall & Stromness. Would definately recommend stopping there if you... Wonderful place. Great location yards from the sea. Very high spec finish to the Croft House where we stayed. We spent the week in the kitchen (!) which has picture windows of Hoy and Stromness, comfy seating and plenty of room to spread out. Look out for the little owl which comes to visit. All rooms very well equipped, kitchen... More

My husband and I stayed in the newly finished Buxa Croft House with another couple and it was the best part of our holiday. We had traveled from Glasgow, Scotland to Oban, to Port Appin and on to Skye for week before moving on to Lewis and Ullapool. Each place had its own unique flavor and feel but Orkney was... More
