This is a nice peaceful location with all of the facilities you would expect from a Bed and Breakfast facility. Lynda was a "Hoot" avery helpful hoot . Continental breakfast is supplied and a full cooked breakfast can be had at an extra cost. If you are not an early riser then be prepared as breakfast is at 8.00am which... More

We found the room to be very comfortable and homely, with little extras which added to the pleasant stay. The hospitality and friendliness of the managers was exemplary and made it more than just a place to sleep. The lodge really is perfect for exploring Orkney as it is situated halfway between Stromness and Kirkwall, and whenever we returned it... More

On the plus side this lodge is clean and rooms have necessary facilities along with lots of extras. The lodge is sometimes described as a hotel, even in the the owners description. There is no bar, no cooked meals (breakfast cannot be purchased at an extra cost). Credit cards are not accepted either. Times for the cold 'complimentary' breakfast are... More

This hotel is ideally located for anyone who wishes to explore the Orkney Isles. It is at a ferry terminal on the West Mainland, and was close to the various RSPB sites we were visiting. The hotel is located on a World War I seaplane base, so there is ample parking. The bedroom was clean, spacious and had TV, hairdryer,... More

We had a great time in this B&B which provided good value for money and gave all the comforts you would anticipate from a B&B, Lynda was very friendly and helpful and the location is very handy for all the main attractions on the Western mainland.

Houton Bay Lodge hosts Linda & Alfie could not have been more friendly or helpful; nothing was too much trouble. My wife mentioned she had raspberries with her breakfast cereal back in Australia; lo & behold raspberries galore with all ensuing breakfasts. The room was very spacious, exceedingly clean, very well appointed and the bed was very comfortable; a pleasure... More

Everything you can think of needing (and plenty you never dreamed you did) supplied. Rooms very comfortable and clean. Lovely chatty front of house. Happy to give advice etc on places to go. Continental breakfast free with room was nice. Can get a cooked breakfast for a small fee.

Houton Bay Lodge is located in one of the most beautiful locations I have ever been. It is ideally situated for catching the ferry to Hoy, as the lodge is literally a 100 yards from the ferry terminal. I received a very warm welcome when I arrived at the lodge, and was pleasantly surprised at how big my room was.... More
