Beautiful experience with a traditional hut that sleeps to 8. The ocean which laps the shores is in sight from your door step. Great friendly staff, great friendly environment with great food. Many tables and chairs beachside with views of the stunning the ocean. Wonderful atmosphere with very friendly and accommodating staff along with many friendly cats and dogs wandering... More

The situation is ok and the area interesting. The bungalows are in serious disrepair - mould everywhere, part of our ceiling was adrift and was going to fall on someone sometime, where there had been a telephone was a hole in the wall etc etc. However more shabby than the accommodation was the service. Arrived after long hot trip to... More

We had been expecting a more tribal-style stay and after a long day driving were delightfully surprised that Koulnoue Village was an ex-Club Med. The bungalow was a little cramped for 4 people but given that there was a small deck and an entire beach to roam, it was fine. The cocktails in the bar were nice and the buffet... More

The east coast of New Caledonia around Hienghene is well worth visiting for its coastal and mountain scenery, but there are few places to stay. We spent two nights at this aging resort and found it quite dated, with some signs of damp, rust and neglect. The duplex 'bungalows' may have been adequate for Club Med decades ago, but expectations... More

This is a perfect hideaway for a weekend. Small bungalows along the beach, with a strange background of black rocks. Food : buffet, is excellent . Pleasant friendly staff. Lot of activities around there.

Years after it has been taken over by a local public consortium the Koulnoué is still called the old Club Med. And it certainly is so called because it has not been upgraded ever since. The place looks exactly like that: a Club Med that has faded with time. Lawn is cut and the swimming pool is cleaned but that's... More

Have stayed here many times. Various managers have come and gone over the years, temporarily raising the standard of the restaurant offerings and staff responsiveness - but on this visit things had regressed back to the average. The pool now has a safety fencing, which is an improvement. Wifi works well in reception and tolerably well even in the rooms.... More

We rolled in here looking for the campsite down the road, but after taking a look at one of the bungalows, about ten meters from the beach, decided to splurge for a few days, and were happy that we did so. This place makes an excellent base for exploring the environs. Nothing is lacking, although if you're here trying to... More

We didn't stay at this hotel but enjoyed its international buffet diner. As the hotel was booked out, Francia, the restaurant manager, couldn't promise us a table for diner. But when we came back a few hours later, we had a nice table ready for us. Very nice attention even for "outside guests". Buffet was good and lots of variety.... More

Once a Club Med the hotel is now locally managed. If you're going to Hienghene it's about the only place to stay. The bungalows aren't far from the beach and although a little tired they cover the basics. Dinner is buffet style with a reasonable array of choices. It appears that they have plans to upgrade the bedrooms (at least... More
