The hotel is up on the hill , it is impossible to walk up the hill. Better reserve the shuttle or have a rental car. The view in the room is fantastic. You can see the lake and mount Fuji in the balcony. We didn't try the dinner but the breakfast was ok.

Pros: the view from the hotel grounds, the little hiking trail, the drive up to the property. BIG Con: Self-important restaurant staff ruins guest experience. We had two dinners in each of two restaurants. The first night, in the tres mediocre French restaurant, I was reprimanded for pulling a bud vase toward me and sniffing a flower. The maitre d'... I never saw Mt Fuji ("Fujisan") in 3 visits to the Hakone / Lake Ashi / Lake Kawaguchiko areas. So I decided to splurge and stay 1 night at Mt Fuji Hotel. After alighting at the bus stop by Lake Yamanaka, we zig-zagged uphill for 20 minutes to reach the hotel as we didn't have a phone to ask for... More

Nice hotel with decent english speaking staff. Big rooms with a balcony with a great view of mt Fuji. We had both breakfast and dinner in the hotel. IF you don't have a car that is the only option. Dinner superb, the japanese restaurant. Breakfast ok but not great. complicated to get to the hotel from Tokyo. Two trains and... More

My Fuji is absolutely stunning and would recommend visiting, however do not stay at this hotel..... Very over priced for what is delivers. Recommend either a day trip from Tokyo or staying at a local town and getting short bus ride in. The lake is lovely but there is nothing there so day trip enough. Communicating with the staff in... Hotel mount Fuji is beautifully located on top of a mountain overlooking both mount Fuji and the entire area around lake Yamanaka-ko. Seen from afar, this hotel with its massive white buildings looks like the place to go in this area. But be aware, it is highly overpriced and overrated. The hotel has a new and an old wing, and... All balcony room with spectacular views of the mountain and lake below. I've never stayed in hotel with a view like this in many years of travel. And the hotel itself is excellent. The rooms themselves are superb, and the hotel has excellent dining, hot springs etc. my only negative was that we came by train/taxi and thus with 2... More

I decided early on that Mt Fuji was a must see for my trip to Japan. The problem is that Fuji is often obscured by clouds for days at a time. Also, it's somewhat remote. Travel time is 3 hours plus from Tokyo, so it's a whole days trip with only a few hours there. I decided to book us... More

This hotel is in a great position. On top of a hill overlooking Lake Yamanako and Mt Fuji. It's super clean, roomy and the staff were very helpful. Theres a shuttle to the small township at thw bottom of the hill. If you stay here however I would eat out. I found the buffet dinner at the Japanese restaurant too... More
