This place isn't really set up for non-Japanese speakers. Few of the staff spoke much English, and forget getting any useful info about how to find your way around town - everything is in Japanese characters with nary a Romanized letter to be found. I've had lots of great, fresh Japanese food over the years, but not here. The Kaiseki... More

Great view of the lake as well as Mount Fuji Sits on a nice secluded location up a hill Almost bizarre looking and probably dates back 50 years and most furniture is that old still Clean and comfortable with good sized rooms for Japan but would really benefit from a refurb. That said it's probably the best hotel close to... More

We actually stayed at the Tokyu Harvest Club which is the annex of the Hotel Mt. Fuji. We were hosted by a local Japanese friend. The Tokyu Harvest Club was for members while the hotel side is for the general public. The rooms were excellent. There's a balcony where we can see the hotel grounds below and a view of... More

Resort like hotel with great view, but at a rather inaccessible location Transportation - It wasn't the easiest to reach the hotel via public transport. However this is how we travelled there (from Nagoya). 1) It is the easiest to get there from Tokyo so we made our way back to Tokyo from Nagoya 2) We took a train to... More

The family and I stayed in a double room (with tatami area) in the new wing. It was perfect for a family of 4 as the children slept on the tatami area in Japanese style beds, which they found to be very comfortable, as was our (western style) double bed. The room was relatively large with separate bathroom and toilet... More

Stayed for 2 nights to view Mt. Fuji which is often shrouded in cloud, as it was on our 2nd day here, much to the disappointment of some arriving guests. The hotel itself is nice enough, albeit a tad dated. An upgrade will become necessary within a few years. The room was clean and cosy, the bathroom fine but dated.... More

The hotel is up on the hill , it is impossible to walk up the hill. Better reserve the shuttle or have a rental car. The view in the room is fantastic. You can see the lake and mount Fuji in the balcony. We didn't try the dinner but the breakfast was ok.

Pros: the view from the hotel grounds, the little hiking trail, the drive up to the property. BIG Con: Self-important restaurant staff ruins guest experience. We had two dinners in each of two restaurants. The first night, in the tres mediocre French restaurant, I was reprimanded for pulling a bud vase toward me and sniffing a flower. The maitre d'... I never saw Mt Fuji ("Fujisan") in 3 visits to the Hakone / Lake Ashi / Lake Kawaguchiko areas. So I decided to splurge and stay 1 night at Mt Fuji Hotel. After alighting at the bus stop by Lake Yamanaka, we zig-zagged uphill for 20 minutes to reach the hotel as we didn't have a phone to ask for... More
