Group of 15 friends stayed. We had a ball. The facilities are amazing. Apart from communal showers lol. Sent off from hostel on bikes and did pub crawl to Broughton and Foxfield and back. BBQ hut cranked up and bootles sausage put on :) bliss. Pub landlord was very nice. No lights outside hut (where food was set out) so... More

My family (2 adults and 2 children) stayed for 2 night last week and loved it. The place is really clean and very practical. It caters for all really. For most of our stay we were the only people there and the owners brought out extra toys for our kids which kept them entertained brilliantly. The kitchen equipment is brill... More

I took a few days off from work in August and decided to spin up to the Lakes on my motorcycle. Staying at Duddon Sands Hostel was ideal - 1) Warm welcome from Judith and Tony Barton who own the Hostel and the Ship Inn 2) Safe space for the bike right outside the Hostel 3) Plenty of room for... A group of 15 of us stayed here and the facility is fantastic, the accommodation is better than I had expected and is better than many of the youth hostels in the Lakes. The location is quite far south which means a 30 min drive or so in a minibus to places like Coniston but this is more than acceptable... More

This is an excellent hostel in a peaceful location, right next to the water. The hosts couldn't do enough for us (even though we were a bit noisy - sorry!) and having the pub next door is a bonus, especially when the weather is good as there's a nice beer garden too. It's spotlessly clean, the beds are really comfy... More

Just the job for a group of 40+ blokes on a weekend away from normal domesticity. we wanted nice countryside, hopefully some ok beer, access to food that ideally we didn`t have to cook, get heads down in relative comfort when needed and all for an ok price. What we actually got from Tony & Judith was at least 5... More

My friends, their children & I visited this lovely hostel on New Years Eve for a couple of days. It is a new build and very well maintained. The landlord and staff were excellent, he couldn't do enough to make our stay more comfortable. We ordered takeaway the first night & he let us have the backroom of the pub... More
