If only we had checked Trip Advisor before contacting this place via phone on reliance on LP review, we obviously wouldn't have stayed. Our experience was as per the last few reviews - dirty bathroom, wifi turned off without notice, service charge added to everything (which we didn't end up paying), hassles from owner and tuk tuk driver (who lingered... How can the lonely planet be lyric about this old bad maintained place. The owner who does everything with a smile did not convince us of a warm welcome. When you leave your room he switches of the power. Food is over expensive and he charged us 10 percent servicecharge even over the room. Don 't go to this depressing... More

Don't know how Lonely Planet gets the idea to recommend this place...!? I can only warn you to go there: About the rooms: that's how I imagine a prison cell. Very cold atmosphere, walls and ceiling very dirty, partially even moldy. The mattress sags, cables were hanging lose in the bathroom, all the things did not really look very clean.... More

This place has a bad atmosphere. Within 10 minutes of arriving we had two guys sit next to us while having tea trying to get us to book a safari. Constantly telling us about how others are more expensive and it was all a pack of lies. We didn't eat here so no idea how the food is. Location is... More

Yala in general is full of pushy men trying to sell you a safari and you cannot walk anywhere without being hassled-quite intimidating for a lone female traveller. I agree with previous reviews in that the owner is rather pushy and the rooms are less than basic with thin mattresses and cold shower. Fortunately I only paid 1900rupees for my... More

I have to agree with most people on here, I was surprised to see that LP endorse this place. Our room was nothing close to 'lovingly cared for', nor did I find the 'luxuriant botanical bonanza surrounding them'! The rooms are shabby and worn out, and dirty in places. Ours wasn't as bad as some have described on here, and... More

It is not the cleanest place on earth and animals definitely rule in the house (I found a scared snake gliding away when I opened the door of our room and a frog sitting in the toilet in the room we then were given; but hey I guess it's hard to keep mother nature out when in Sri Lanka!). But... More

This is probably the worst we got during our Sri Lanka trip. Arriving from Haputale after a long bus ride, we were getting into town relatively late so even though we got a recommendation for something in town (given to us by hostel staff in another town), we opted for what the LP described as a very nice and well... We have chosen this guesthouse from LP, saying that is clean, cheap, pleasant, we arranged price for 2 nights (3000rs/n), safari in advance (12000Rs). The owner alerted us to the presence of safari mafia, bad guys, who will try to convince us to take a safari trip with them for "better price", who we should not talk to. Already during the... More

We stayed in this place just because it was very close to the Yala park and our safari finished quite late in the evening. Really not reccomended. The price they asked (4500 RP) is really not adequate to the service (in our room no hot water and no a/c....try to avoid this place even if there are some advertising in... More
