Excellent find slightly off the track from the La Camino Santiago but worth the 30 minute detour. Villa de Abalos in situated in a the tiny village of Abalos which is 30 minutes drive from Logrono off the A12 motorway. Everything you would want, beautiful 17th century building with lovely staff great food and wine and most important excellent value... More

This hotel exceeded our expectations. The room was comfortable, the food cheap and excellent, and the wine very good and value for money. The family that runs this are very friendly and helpful. Even the other guests (American and Spanish) were good fun, with good knowledge of wine! The dining was superb, both breakfast and evening meals. We would love... More

We have been traveling in Spain in two weeks, from Extremadura to Rioja and the Pyrenees. This place is our favorite stay. Very good food and comfortable room. The village Abalos is charming and the people are friendly. When we passed the beautiful church an old lady open it for a visit just for us...

I had been here six years previously and it has stayed just the same in all that time. A delightful country town house converted into a charming boutique hotel with great food. The hosts are friendly and welcoming, the dinners good and the breakfasts very enjoyable. Abalos is well located for exploring the wineries of La Rioja, especially near to... More

We couldn't have been more pleased with our return visit to Villa de Abalos. We stayed for 4 nights, and then later in our trip came back for another 6 nights. The hotel is very comfortable, and served as a great base for exploring the wineries in the Rioja region. Jose Luis and Merche are attentive hosts and made our... More

This is a wonderful, family run hotel in a small friendly medieval village in La Rioja. It does not get much better than this. The owner is a passionate wine maker who produces very good wines. The small bar fills up with neighboring wine makers in the evening. His wife is an excellent chef who runs the hotel restaraunt. We... More

My husband and I loved this place so much we were reluctant to get the word out. Tiny hotel in a tiny village right in the heart of La Rioja, it was a perfect base for us to spend our days exploring the region. I don't know which surprise was more delightful: that the husband was an expert winemaker, or... More

We stayed here 2 nights ago and booked on reviews from tripadvisor but didn't know what to expect . This is in the Rioja wine region and the hotel bar had many of the local wines on offer. We had a wander around the narrow streets where there were many Bodegas and much history we returned to the walled garden at... Spent the last two nights of our Spanish holiday here. Checked the visitors book and found we first stayed here in 2004 and have been back every year bar two. Since our last visit in 2011 - would have been here in 2012 but for the Brittany Ferries strike - Jose has added a wine bar to the hotel. They... More

We stayed here overnight as a family of 4 (2 adults & 2 children). The rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean. The owners were friendly and very welcoming. They offered to do dinner earlier for us because of the children and then cooked them a lovely pasta dish that wasn't on the menu which more to their taste. Our food... More
