The food at the Derby Arms was fantastic, would definitely go back to eat but unfortunately not to stay. Room decor was tired, duvet cover was missing so many buttons the duvet was falling out and we were only given one very thin pillow each. We were disappointed to discover our rooms were not cleaned on our second day which... More

The Derby arms is worth finding. The staff were brilliant, food excellent and the rooms absolutley magnificent. We had a massive room and even bigger bathroom with a majestic rolltop bath. The beer was exellent, the food terrific especially the breakfast and all this conveniently situate dclose to the lakes without a lakes price tag affixed to it. I do... More

We were pleasantly surprised by The Derby Arms. The staff were open minded and friendly. We were looking for a convenient weekend which would allow us to visit the lakes and bring our dog along with us while providing a measure of comfort for the two of us. The weekend could not have worked out better. Comfortable and spacious rooms,... More

Real Ale, real food, real pub, real people, real nice! A perfect break with fine walking and without the tourists. This was the second time we have stayed at the Derby Arms and it hasn't disappointed. Lovely room with a massive bathroom and rolltop bath. I am sure we will be back.

Lovely stay at the Derby Arms, very comfy bed, good quality sheets, power shower, thick towels. Stayed in Room Four which had nice views of the lush grassy hills. Pub food for dinner and breakfast- very tasty meals from a more interesting than the usual menu and served by friendly staff.

Stayed here for one night, booking two rooms for two couples. A helpful and prompt reply was received from Chris at The Derby Arms. We were greeted warmly on arrival and immediately relaxed to have lunch in the bar. Food was above the standard of the average pub lunch, with the scampi being particularly good. Rooms were surprisingly spacious, room... More

I recently stayed here with my partner, 2 nights bed & breakfast. We ate at the Derby Arms both evenings and I must say the food was excellent, the portions were good, the food was very well prepared, well presented and very satisfying. The drink was also excellent, a nice selection of cask ales which all tasted great so they... More

One of our favourite places for a pub lunch after a walk in the Witherslack area. The midweek two courses for £10 deal is excellent. Not huge portions but nicely presented. Fish and chips is usually the choice, perfectly cooked and not overwhelmed by batter. Yummy choice of desserts. The pub has a very nice ambience with stripped wood floors,... More

We ate here on 2/2/14. Called in for an impromptu lunch and so pleased we did. Great food, great service and excellent value for money. The waitress was very welcoming and helpful. When my wife commented on how good the fig chutney was she brought another most welcome helping. Will definitely return and would recommend it to our friends.

Have enjoyed two previous meals here, was surprised by three out of four meals so poor. Stale chips, greasy fish, brown off lettuce, raw potatoes . When showing the waitress the bad lettuce no apology and she was rude in her response! Worst restaurant experience in a long time. I will ensure i let all my clients know and will not... More
