My room was comfortable and basic. Breakfast was disappointing. I had hoped for a lovely cooked breakfast but we got a very basic buffet style one instead which wasn't very appetising. Add to that the overly loud dance music being played it wasn't pleasant. The staff in the bar in the evening were great and very helpful. Although we didn't... More

We arrived on a busy Saturday afternnon and the bar staff were very welcoming. We were shown to our room and were asked if we would like to book a table for... More

We were staying near by and passed this pub to and from our accommodation. There is ample parking. It was a cold day and there was a lovely open fire in the lounge. Seating and tables are old and varied...interesting benches with cushions as well as bar stools. Dogs are welcome. The menu had just enough choice and the food... More

Location perfect for south lakes. Only 5 mins from Grange, 10 mins to Newby an half hour from Coniston by car. Pub itself is awesome, staff are brilliant, food was lovely an the rooms immaculate. Would highly recommend. We only stayed one night but we will definitely be back

All, Firstly don't judge this place from the outside as it looks a little tired. Inside just as it should be , with excellent fairly priced food and great staff (one even had good taste in music too). ;) Please give it a chance and you can only be impressed Peter

Pub, beer, staff and food excellent. Currently nearly half pub dog friendly but could do with both the main rooms been dog friendly as so many dogs and owners in there. If you are in the caravan club meathop site this is definitely worth the walk

Hello there, thank you very much for your lovely review. We try and keep dogs to just the full bar area (where we serve our main menu) as some people aren't comfortable eating around dogs - if the bar area fills up (which it often does!) then we'd be more than happy to have dog-friendly diners in one of our... Olde worlde type place; rustic with open fires and good food. Bedroom and ensuite really comfy and clean and dogs are welcome! Only issue was that breakfasts although included is only continental in the week; that was disappointing because as a diabetic there was nothing suitable for me to eat :( Have to go at the weekend next time

In future, if you give us a quick call or e-mail in advance our chefs can make sure that something suitable is available for breakfast which we are more than happy to do.
