I have stayed at the Sawrey on numerous occasions, and always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Yes the rooms are on the small side, but always spotless. Yes, as mentioned in some of the other reviews the decor leaves a lot to be desired and some of the furniture is rough around the edges but what it lacks is made up for in a many other ways. Although the hotel was clean and the staff pleasant, it left much to be desired in the soundproofing department. We had the grand total of 4 hours sleep due to the "energetic" couple upstairs & the car park being outside our room. TV reception dreadful and you can hear your neighbours conversations. more

A lovely, friendly, traditional hotel. Good, home cooked, seasonal British food, a limited menu but it's all fresh, not microwaved or deep fat fried. Rooms could do with an update, but spotlessly clean, friendly staff and an excellent location. Very good value for the weekend breaks. more
