We came here in Oct 2014 with friends and our dogs. The pub is situated in he village of Near Sawrey -famous for Beatrix Potter's Hill Top Farm next door. Depending on the time of year, on entering you are greater by the open fire, traditional slate floor and a collection of local items displayed all around the bar. The... More

We are regular visitors to The Tower Bank Arms whenever we visit the lakes. The food is excellent but you can't reserve tables in the bar area so make sure to get there early for evening meal as tables are limited due to the cosy layout. If you take the dog you can only eat in the bar area. We've... More

We have just enjoyed another superb stay at The Tower Bank Arms. As always Anthony was the perfect host; the food was as good if not better than before (the creme brulee was divine), and the ambiance of the pub with it's mix of tourists and locals just can't be beaten. Can't wait to return.

Bit of a pain to park - go to the National Trust car park (free) and walk back 50m. Lunch serving time is 1200hrs to 1400hrs and (on Saturdays anyway) you can't book so you have to be organised. We got there and a sign saying "no more food" appeared on the bar as we took the last table at... More

The Tower Bank Arms is right next to Hilltop, Beatrix Potter's home, in the tiny village of Near Sawrey. The whole village is enchanting and the source of many of the pictures in Potter's books. You wake to morning fog and the sound of birds, sheep, and cattle. The rooms at the Arms are small and have small bathrooms but... More

New menu at the Tower Bank this time and it was fantastic and still using all locally sourced produce. Great selection of beers and wines. All served in the atmosphere of a traditional Cumbrian pub. Good to sit in front of the open fire after a long days walk to dry out drinking local beers and mulled wine. The locals... More

We loved the Lake District when we first came to stay in the area a couple of years ago and stayed in self-catering accommodation. We found the food and drink here fantastic quality, hearty and consistent so, when deciding to stay in the area again (without family and little ones) for a few days break it seemed the perfect choice... Really enjoyed our meal at The Tower Banks Arms. It's a cosy pub located right next to Beatrix Potter's house in Near Sawrey. We had the steaks and can highly recommend them, especially the optional peppercorn sauce for a naughty additional £2. This is a lovely pub that serves very hearty traditional pub grub and we would return. The toilets... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay in this quiet tranquil countryside location. A real bar with a bit of character, warm atmosphere and an extremely welcoming landlord. The food was good without being exceptional.

It seems like we are the only people who stayed here that didn't know about this wonderful little inn! Most guests were returning. We stayed in Methera, the largest of 4 rooms, which was huge, had a big tv and a great shower. We think this could also be turned into a family room, using the sofabed. Anthony could not... More
