Delightful hosts in traditional country house hotel set in beautiful lakeland. Our welcome tea in the lounge in front of a roaring fire, Richard and Margaret's attention to detail including many "added extras", as well as their care, concern and Richard's quiet sense of humour, made our stay one to remember. The food was a really high standard and we... More

Stayed for two nights last month on a Travelzoo deal, and couldn't believe our good fortune. In a beautiful setting overlooking Esthwaite Water, next door to Beatrix Potter's place, and with the equally highly recommended Tower Inn around 400m away, the location would be hard to better in this price range, as would the quality of the food and accommodation.... This truly is a country house hotel. Set in marvellous countryside, it is a perfect retreat from the rigours of life. It has a small number of rooms; ours was slightly 'tired'. It was quite large, had the usual facilities, with one major issue (perhaps for taller people), I repeatedly caught my head on low sloping roof timbers in both... More

We booked this hotel on a Travelzoo voucher and we were delighted to find a superbly situated, warm and welcoming place awaiting us when we arrived in pouring rain.Richard and Margaret are lovely hosts and have put a lot of effort and thought into the whole place. From the decanter of sherry with pretty glasses, to the pot of useful... More

Ees Wyke is as near a perfect Hotel as it is possible to get! Everything about our stay was great, except perhaps the weather! The Lake District in March, what could I expect? The quality of all aspects of the Hotel could not be faulted.

We arrived to a warm welcome and found that we were staying in a really delightful country hotel, beautifully furnished and with a calm and peaceful feeling. Richard and Margaret could not do enough to make us feel at home. We enjoyed the most enjoyable evening dinners on both evenings, and Richard went to great lengths to more than satisfy... More

Very nicely situated and in easy reach of a number of lakeside villages. A warm welcome , very comfortable room although it was close to the kitchen and although it is a quiet hotel the peach room could be noisy. Very good food, and only a minor criticism was whilst there was a choice at dinner it was limited to... More

This was a Christmas treat from our son and we have just returned from a wonderful and peaceful weekend at Ees Wyke. Although on the quieter side of Windermere we were within driving distance of Hawkshead and Ambleside and close to the ferry to Bowness. Stunning views from bedroom window and overlooking Esthwaite water. We stayed in the Sunshine room... More

We fully subscribe to the positive comments in the House's VISITORS book. Surely, the correct approach and state of mind are required when considering spending some time in such a unique environment, where the owners, Margaret & Richard succeed wonderfully well in offering an unparalleled and unpretentious welcome.

An excellent location on the quieter side of Lake Windermere, ideal for chilling out if you want a relaxing break. The house is set in quiet grounds with good uniterrupted views of the fells to the East and some easy or more challenging walking from the front door - including a stroll to the local pub (Tower Bank Arms) which...
