This is a very quiet, comfortable, relaxing property! The room was so nice and the pond view was soothing. The on site bar/restaurant was superb and we lucked out since they have a BBQ on Sunday nights. The star gazing was a treat and of course the close proximity to Lake Rotoiki was the best factor.

St. Arnaud is a beautiful spot, with Alpine feel to eat. The lodge is the only motel in the village as far as I'm aware. The rooms were spacious and clean. From the motel you can't really see the view but it is just 10 min. forest walk to the lake. The hot tab is a nice bonus. We took... More

We were passing through on our way to Blenheim earlier today and stopped for lunch. Food, service and mountain location were so fantastic that we decided to stay the night with our 2 young daughters. Make sure you get a room overlooking the stream, and upstairs room with loft if you have kids. Our daughters love it. We had dinner... More

Arrived on a Friday and it was rainy and cool, but the beautiful interior of the chalet was warm and inviting. Had to drive, as right on the busy highway. Went to the local museum and learned about the area. We ate in and had a quiet night. Got to see the check-in area just before we left. Beautiful. Restaurant... More

We have stayed here several times as part of a group of cyclists and have thoroughly enjoyed each stay. The rooms are spacious and clean with good amenities, the food in the restaurant is quite a bit better than you might expect and the owners are wonderful hosts.

Arrived late at night and the team's friendliness and service was just wonderful. Even though the restaurant was closed we were able to get some wonderful toasted sandwiches. The chalet was just super and exceeded our expectations. Adored the electric blanket on our beds. I was traveling with my parents (58 & 60) and they adored the chalet. Dining in... More

Very friendly and entertainig hospitality! Top class accomodation for a good price. Also the food is excellent. The area where the alpine lodge is located is beautiful for short walks but also perfect for overnight tramping! all together a must see when visiting north of South island!

I stayed in the backpacker part of this hotel and was disappointed with the lack of cleanliness in the dorm room, living room and bathroom. None of these rooms had been vaccumed, rubbish bins not emptied and the bathroom only had a very casual wipe down in the two nights I stayed. Even simple things make a difference and it's... More

We stayed here for one night on our journey from the South to the North island. When we first arrived we were in awe of the scenery as we were surrounded by hills unfortunately there was no snow as we were in Spring. Although there was still some remaining at the very top of the mountains. The staff were very... More
