Thanks very much to the owners and their friendly team for looking after our familes needs during our January lake holiday. As 'casual day guests' we were made to feel very welcome when we popped in and out... whether it was for a meal, (good vegetarian pizza choices) drink, coffee and a slice... (ginger crunch recommended). Lovely to see such... More

Terrible as a backpackers! Overpriced, hot showers are token based, you are expected to put the linen on your self, the beds are uncomfortable, kitchen and dishes were dirty, receptionist wasn't nice and seemed snobby towards backpacker clients... Definitely not suitable for exhausted people after a tramp in the lakes... Worst place I stayed at in 1.5 months touring New... More

Only stayed one night but we found it a very comfortable and easy lodge to stay in. the bedroom was spacious, good bathroom and comfortable bed - everything travelers need. We experienced excellent restaurant service for both dinner and breakfast. Food was very good and reasonably priced and they have a good wine list.

The Alpine Lodge has a wonderful friendly atmosphere. The owners are so welcoming. caring and have a real sense of making their guests feel important. All the staff are helpful and friendly. The accomodation is very comfortable, well appointed and very clean. The restaurant has lovely food and is well priced. Very child friendly with a lovely little play area,... More

We stayed two nights (either side of a tramp), enjoying dinner and breakfast both days. The food was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. The setting could not have been more beautiful, the proximity to the forest being brilliant and the gardens well-kept and gorgeous. Would highly recommend.

I stayed recently in the Backpackers Alpine Lodge in St Arnaud, South Island, NZ. I left my coffee plunger in the kitchen when I checked out. I returned the next day and searched the kitchen, but - no luck - the plunger was not to be found. I spoke with a lady serving breakfast to guests in the main lodge... More

I have stayed and this property several times. The standards for comfort, friendliness, and quality remain high. Over my two night stay I had breakfast and dinner at the lodge's restaurant. The quality was excellent and the prices reasonable. This is a lovely area of New Zealand that is a bit of the main track for most visitors but worth... More

It was a nice, clean (empty) place and the owner (male one) was very friendly. It is however quite expensive even for the backpackers, and we felt a bit that we were not valued as guests compared to those of the lodge guests. This was felt in a little dispute about wifi. The location was also decent, but there isn't... More

Stayed for two nights and attended a wedding reception at the lodge. From the time we made the booking till the morning we left, the service was excellent and staff and management were so helpful and so friendly. We arrived a bit earlier, no problems whatsoever, we were able to check into our room. The room was lovely, very cosy,... More
