We spent a week here in May 2013. Pyrgos is a typically Greek island whitewashed village. We were driven to the car park at the foot of the village and a porter with a donkey was waiting to escort us up to the hotel. Suitcases were loaded onto the donkey and up we climbed. Staff were very attentive and showed... More

Stayed here last year and had a great time, the service was excellent, and a walk around the surroundings of this secluded hotel showed a glimpse of the local life. Breakfast provided a great start to the day and when we asked for some extra croissants on one morning, the waiter said there wasn't any left however, 10 minutes later... More

We were taken a bit by surprise when the taxi dropped up off in a car park and porters picked up our bags and set off up the hill. There is no vehicular access to the hotel. The views from the top of the hill is however lovely. Our room was a cave which made it dark and the marble... More

Where do I start??? Ummm, the food is good. So our room was a cave that had no windows except in the door, not ideal really! It was so dark we had to ask for an extra lamp to be put in. This helped a bit. The shower, which is in the bath, had no curtain or door so the... More

We prefer small but interesting hotels and often use Relais & Chateaux hotels to find accommodation, this is a lovely building with a romantic history and great views but it is sadly let down by the level of service, whilst I appreciate its location is on a relaxed Greek island we were disappointed. The lack of attention to detail which... More

We spent a week at the Zannos Melathron hotel in Pyrgos, Santorini . The hotel is accessible only on foot or by mule because of the winding and very narrow streets leading up hill to it and is really unsuitable for a very elderly or infirm guest. The hotel itself is a lovely old building with far reaching views towards... More

We arrived at Zannos on our scheduled date and was told by the manager that we were being "upgraded" to a Canava Suite. I was suspicious but accepted. After two days, our electricity went out, although the rest of the hotel had power, and were told they weren't sure it was coming back on and we needed to move hotels.... More

Reading the previous reviews in the trip advisor we have decided to book a room in this hotel, with a special rate. The normal rate is over Euro 400 per night, which I believe it does not worth it. The main problem concerns the service. People working there are not interested at all to provide any service. They just spend... More
