Spent one night at this olde worlde Welsh Pub between Methyr and Abergavenny. The rooms are clean and comfortable if a little tired but cannot be beaten for the price. The food served in the pub/restaurant is incredibly good value and the food was cooked to perfection with plenty of choice. Lots of lovely knick-knacks to give it plenty of... More

Staff very friendly on arrival and all through our stay. Food very good, ate here both nights of our stay. Breakfast plentiful. Rooms very clean even if a bit dated. Locals were very friendly. Great stay would stay again if in the area.

Stayed here as going to Abergavenny food festival. On arrival was met with warm welcome, shown to our rooms which were very clean. Ate in the restaurant both evenings, very good quality food at very reasonable prices. Drinks were reasonable prices. Sweets were all £3.10 each and exceptional value. All the time during our stay were looked after very well... More

Arrived at 6.30pm to no greeting at all from the man behind the bar. He took us to our room, this consisted of two double beds in one room, another double bed in an adjoining room and a bathroom. All looked clean. Went down to dinner, told it would be half an hour, waited over one and a half hours... More

Had a great stay here. The staff were very friendly, food was excellent (the game pie was superb) and not expensive. It's ideal for walkers and general exploring the Brecon's. Room was bit old-fashioned and could do with a bit of a make-over and the bed was on the soft side but no major problems.

We had 2 nights here at the end of August. I had to work some of the time but husband and son came too. A great place to visit coast, city and The Brecons. We really enjoyed it. In honesty, the rooms are a bit old fashioned with the beds and decor. They were really clean though and had everything... More

Please ignore, ignore, ignore any old reviews or pictures you may read or view of this hotel. We are certainly glad we did. We stayed here for the bank holiday weekend after travelling down from Manchester for a motorbike holiday, exploring the Brecon Beacons and didn't want to leave. This hotel gave us a warm, genuine and friendly welcome. The... More

We stayed for one night in late July. The room was a big letdown. Uncomfortable bed that squeaked with every small turn, no lights or light switch anywhere near the bed (so you had to get out of bed to turn on / off the ceiling lights or the wall lights mounted on the other side of the room!), the... A lovely old world hotel/ pub. The hosts were very welcoming and the locals welcomed you in. Food was well cooked and lovely. The only down point was the room. It was very small and as 60+ years old, trying to get in and out of the bath was very awkward and uncomfortable, as it had a sloping roof. I... More
