We had an absolutely fabulous meal off the "sizzler menu" last night. We live locally and went with two friends who also live in Morar. There are other nice places to eat and drink in Arisaig and Mallaig but its fantastic to have the hotel, restaurant and public bar open again and to not have to worry about having to... More

We came here as a family for dinner. We had a very good meal, all three main courses (a trio of fish and seafood, a burger and a pasta dish) being well cooked and presented. Well chosen wine list. The restaurant staff were all young, friendly and helpful and we couldn't fault the service. The dining room has a view... More

I stayed with a coach tour and some of the rooms were not up to standard. Our bathroom had a patch of damp/water damage on the ceiling and needed a more thorough clean. The food was OK but nothing special.

Thank you for reminding us about this issue which will be dealt with immediately. The weather in Highlands has been challenging in the very months when roof repairs would be done here, but when slates dislodge they do need to be replaced and this has been noted. The full roof was substantially renewed after winter storms before guests arrived. More

While visiting the Silver Sands beach we popped in at 12:00 for lunch. The restaurant was not open?? but the lady at reception said she would try to find someone who was not too busy to make us a coffee. The place was deserted apart from a man delivering dozens of bags of laundry and reminded of us of an... More

So we apologies for staffing a deserted hotel aiming to please someone who wants coffee a few degrees higher in the only cafe for 6 miles. Readers will make up their own minds.... More

Not a great hotel! We stopped here first for a morning coffee: quite a nice setting on old settees in the big lounge but the cappuccinos were almost u drinkable - far too strong (mostly coffee, hardly any frothed milk). The evening meal was poor too, though in a lovely setting in the big dining room overlooking the bay. No... More

We are sorry some aspects of the meal were not to your liking. All our food comes straight from local suppliers with whom we have excellent relationships. All food is different away from home and we do not agree our quality fell short. Guests regularly book time and again which is why we have to turn away business some nights.... More

The room was a continuation of the furniture, decor and en suite from the previous owners, comfortable and clean but the supply of toiletries, random teabags and no biscuits reflected the penny pinching on the catering side. The dining area and lounge leave a lot to be desired, the new English owner thinks highland cows on the walls and throws on... Thank you for your observations Ann. I’m disappointed, but the art is traditional as you know and it is fact that the tourists love the mountains and lochs. You are contemporary and that is fine. Sorry if the English are not welcome here, but locals would disagree with you! Breakfast is from a buffet for tour guests and plated to... More

Would certainly have liked to stay much longer, … alas, as Morar Hotel was only one stop on a pre-booked round trip, we were here for just three nights. The hotel is located in a lovely scenery, the views from the terrace and the restaurant on the Isle of Rhum and Morar bay are stunning. As noted by some reviewers,... More

Excellent location and beautiful views but . . . I stayed in the Morar Hotel a few weeks ago and was disappointed by recent changes made, having visited previously many times. The decor is now overly fussy and mis-matched with many untidy throws and cushions littering the reception area (faux cow, really?!) and mismatching rugs arranged aimlessly around the hotel... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a lengthy review. I will address your main concerns if I may and leave the minor detail. Guest soap is in dispensers and guests can request the soap bars if they wish. Deck furniture has been increased since the shoulder season of your visit when the weather was very inclement. The laundry... More

While staying in Morar, we dined in the Morar Hotel. We found the staff extremely attentive and friendly. The owners, who have only recently taken over the hotel, were extremely friendly and courteous also. The food was of a high standard and it was lovely to get a chance to talk to some of the locals too.

We are delighted you had a wonderful holiday and you are not alone. Hundreds of independent travellers are now enjoying Morar again, its beaches, walks and fresh air along with the beautiful food here. We are waiting on a major feature coming out in the Herald basically corroborating your story. Thank you once again. More
