Don't bother. Even though the food was good the hotel is a very run down. Very basic, looks as though it's being run into the ground. Staff are nice. Drinks with meals are very expensive. Some rooms look as if they have been broken into at some time and never repaired.

Friendly and helpful service from booking through to check-out from all the hotel staff - just the way we like it. Double & twin room for us - likely refurb on the cards for this hotel, but both rooms had everything we needed and was clean (twin room very spacious). We ate at the hotel on the first night and... The lady dealing with the telephone & email booking was lovely, very helpful and very obliging and the waitresses were really pleasant and lovely too. After reading the latest reviews I was a bit worried about getting some food there after 7pm so was pleasantly surprised when, upon checking in, and after reading the outside board which said food served... I was away for one night whilst on business and I passed this place and was pleased they had a room available, I was told the room was £124 single occupancy for one night which I thought was very pricey so I negotiated and got the room a little cheaper and at that point was delighted as i expected a... The hotel has recently been taken over / or will be taken over. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to help with any requests. Our room was huge, comfy bed, spacious bathroom, good tv - only downside the windows are not insulated (which was ok in May, but wouldn't be so comfortable when its colder). There... More

I stayed here with my mum for 2 nights as a little get away for my birthday, the staff were really friendly and couldn't do more for you. The food was excellent above expectation and good value for money. my mum had rang up prior to our stay and asked if they could make a cake and arranged for the... More

Me and my partner stayed for one night at the killearn, as travelling from England up to the north of Scotland. The hotel had a lovely warm welcome, yet the rooms are dated and very small. Stains on the carpets and bedding were disappointing, yet to made up with the lovely refurbished bathroom! The hotel is defiantly a funny one,... More

We stayed at this hotel on a Wowcher deal. It is a nice hotel in a pleasant countryside, central location; perfect for exploring the surrounding area. The room was not large nor luxurious (I think there are superior rooms on offer for a supplement), but had everything we needed and was clean. It was quite hot when we stayed which... More

We came for Sunday lunch as a birthday treat for my 88-year-old mother. We had not been before but the Black Bull has a good reputation and we were confident that we would get a good meal. How wrong we were! It was a set menu, which was not a problem, but the food when it arrived was truly dreadful... More

Hello and thank you for coming for some food. Belated happy birthday too. Sorry you did not think the food is up to scratch. There is a demand for low prices but people expect high quality food. Sometimes we have to supply food that is at the cheaper end of the market to meet guest price expectations. Although budget brand,... More
