We stayed here whilst we were visiting the open at hoylake, we arrived very early Sunday morning ready to get a taxi to the course, Ken the proprietor was taking some clients to the course and told us to jump in. We arrived back some time after eight, hungry and tired,we went straight to the delightful dining room where we... More

We have just returned from our three night stay at Peel Hey during the British Open golf. This was simply the perfect place to stay. From initial contact with Ken all went smoothly to plan. Ken was gracious and even drove us down to the course using his local knowledge to beat the traffic -he even lent us umbrellas for... More

Booked this accommodation online the morning of the night that we wanted to stay there. We were amazed that they still had a room as the British Open is on. We chose it because it looked nice, sounded nice and was close to the golf which we were going to attend. We got there late and were greeted by Eleana... More

Does anyone do afternoon tea like us British? And can it ever be any better than the one we had at Peel Hey?Plus it was on that sometimes rare occasion,a perfect sunny English summer day.Sandwiches and cakes could not be faulted, the tea was excellent, and of course the highlight was the strawberry scones.Quality and presentation first-class,improved further by the sun streaming through... Stayed 3 nights and found it really good and would stay again. Family room was a good size, very clean. Bed was a bit hard for my liking . Breakfast was excellent as was the service. Loyalty bar prices were a tad high when you add VAT on them at billing stage £3.50 for a tin of strongbow cider costing... More

Very friendly and efficient welcome and we were quickly shown to our room. The Double was rather small and we felt a bit overpriced for the size- we have stayed in much bigger for less money.A bit dark and the wallpaper did not help- lighting only by halogen spots was a bit glaring..Everything was clean;a comfortable bed with crisp clean... Fabulous homemade scones served with clotted cream, jam and strawberries and beautifully presented and a nice pot of tea. As simple as that - job done (exceedingly well!). Sit outside in the lovely garden on a sunny afternoon.

We decided to stay here for 3 days as it was a convenient location for us to visit friends and family in the area and we found all staff only too anxious to please and the breakfast freshly cooked was excellent. Although an evening meal is not offered when we came back famished and asked if it would be possible... More
