What a perfect position right in the tiny working fishing harbour-it really cannot get much better than this location. Cosy little bar and really good restaurant compliment the hotel and you feel that this is perfect Cornwall. All the staff were really pleasant and helpful, with nothing too much trouble. It was apparent that the Hotel had taken a battering... More

Fabulous hotel. Beautiful location. A peaceful get away right by the sea. Cosy and restful lounge. Light airy restaurant with a number of tables overlooking the sea. Lovely food. Excellent service from the moment we arrived. Thank you very much to Richard and his team for making my birthday weekend very special.

Lovely Hotel very relaxing we had room 303 which had a terrace over looking the Sea where we sat out last week in the Sunshine, wonderful. We stayed for 8 nights and had Dinner on 3 evenings, the food was excellent, although the menu only changed slightly on each occasion. The Dinner Rolls were very nice as well. Breakfast was... More

The Lugger exceeded our expectations, which were already high based on a recommendation from a friend, reviews and the website. A very friendly welcome after the long drive down to Cornwall and then up to our room, which had fantastic views over the hard and the cove. The bed was comfortable, the room tastefully decorated, although a little tired, and... More

Due to illness my husband and I hadn't had a summer break so had very high expectations of our 5 day break at the Lugger. Jane at the hotel said we could have room 201 for 5 days if we booked from 28th Sept. I took her advice over timing as we had particularly asked for 201 after reading the... More

The Lugger Hotel is a delight if you want to get away from the stresses of everyday life: including your internet connection and mobile phone signal. Don't worry, you can still use the hotel's wi-fi in the bar area and landline calls are free from your room. The hotel is spread over several whitewashed buildings around the harbour at Portloe... We booked a night away for a special anniversary so didn't mind paying over the odds. But we have come away feeling very disappointed. Firstly the welcome to the hotel was cold. Then our room was pretty shabby and tired looking. The walls were flakey and the bathroom tatty. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening and after... More

Our thanks to Richard, Julie and the team for making our 2 night stay so enjoyable. A warm and friendly welcome, delightful room overlooking the cove, fabulous food and relaxed atmosphere. Ideal location for walks along the coast path to the east and west. Perfect stay - thank you.

This is the most lovely hotel. It's the setting that really makes it, nestled into a tiny harbour. We stayed in the Lookout, a tiny separate room that couldn't be any closer to the sea. The reason for 4 rather than 5 stars was the inconsistency of the food. Unless you want a long drive for dinner you can eat... More

Spent two nights here this week and can't say enough to praise this establishment. Were made to feel so welcome straight away and had a lovely room in the annex across the car park. Number 308. It's all the small touches that make you feel special. Shortbread on your tea tray, coming back to your room at night to find... More
