We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel on a deal 2 nights in a classic room plus food on 1 night. We decided to upgrade the room to a de-luxe room and had an amazing room with a view of the cove and sea and a terrace at the other end of the room. The rooms are possibly getting a bit... More

We stayed at the Lugger Inn last week and treated ourselves to a deluxe room. A superb sea view, with terrace, complemented by outstanding food, excellent service and a secluded/romantic location to die for. Richard Hartley and his amazing team could not have been more welcoming, courteous and attentive to our every need. I can forgive him the occasional spot... More

I have known this establishment for many, many years - over several ownerships. On May 2nd 2012, I recommended to my friends that we celebrate my 74th birthday at this delightful spot. The sun was shining, for once, and we sat outside ' in paradise '. We chose from the ' lunchtime menu' a crab salad - what else I ask... More

My wife and I stayed for two nights on a dining package for £360. We found the hotel to be very clean and tidy, great open bar and restaurant with sea views. The food was good and the choice varied enough although if we had stayed for over three days and we may have craved more variety. Lovely comfortable beds,... More

Lovely room (small but this is a traditional old cornish property) - we had a very comfortable king size bed. Compliments to the chef the food was excellent, better than many London restaurants.Hope to return to this super hotel. More

Great spot in a lovely village - popped in for lunch. Their "lunch" menu really turned out to be what we'd consider starters - very little food at all, at quite steep prices. Ingredients were good, but too much thought on presentation rather than giving sufficient for a lunch course. We were left hungry and thinking we should just have... More

We've just come back from a few days at The Lugger and we had a sensational time! It's got so much going for it - amazing spot, gorgeous room (we had a deluxe double with a terrace - room 303), utterly delicious food and delightful attentive staff. We will definitely be going again. We went on a recommendation from family... More

Just returned for a relaxing few days at the Lugger. We found the hotel to be a tranquil getaway in a fantastic location. A better view you will not find from Room 202...watching the fishermen and gulls and listening to the waves. The staff were extremely friendly and contributed to the relaxed atmosphere. The food and wine top grade, can... More

We returned to The Lugger hotel in the tiny Cornish village of Portloe in April 40 years after our last visit - and I'm glad to report that the only changes were for the better. Expertly managed by Richard Hartley, the 22 room hotel has expanded and been upgraded since 1972 and now consists of several annexes and cottages as... More

The hotel has a chef and they create some pretty nice dishes (mostly seafood, of course), but vegtarian and vegan seem to be a problem at The Lugger. Although we requested that no animal products be included with my partner's dinner (1st night), and although we were told that the noodles were vegan (except for egg which she is ok... More

Thank you for posting your comments and we are sorry to read of your disappointment. Our excellent chefs cater for all dietary requirements. Your wife’s noodles were not served with squid ink or cooked in fish stock. We are sorry to learn of your wife’s migraine, and would like to point out to readers of this review that this could...
