We spent 2 nights (January). Scenic views were spoiled by scaffolding and construction materials. Food was generally good and presented in an innovative style - two meals were sent back but the hotel gave us credit. Room which was called a 'classic' was rather small but had very nice amenities and details. There is nothing much to do in Portloe... More

What a beautiful mid week break we had at The lugger Hotel me, my husband and our dog had. We were lucky to have some beautiful weather but even if we didn't we still would have had the wonderful treatment and customer service we had at the luggar which made our trip. A free upgrade on arrival to a sea... More

Not only were we upgraded upon arrival but the service offered throughout was exceptional. Excellent food served for breakfast, lunch and dinner with amazing views across the ocean. This was a perfect place to spend our honeymoon. The little touches in customer service made a welcome treat, hot water bottles left in bed at night, takeaway bag for our journey... More

Wonderful position next to the sea in the cove that is Portloe. We had a sea knew and terrace room which of course is more expensive than the ones with no view or terrace but is worth it to hear the sea crash on the rocks and roll into the cove as you go to sleep. That's what this place... More

We stayed at Lugger for 2 nights over new year. Lovely warm and informative welcome from Jane even though we arrived slightly early she took us straight to our room. Room looked great however it was located close to one of the front doors which could have made it fairly noisy. Therefore, we moved to another room (301) which was... More

my husband has Parkinsons and fell twice on 4th Jan (my 60th birthday). His fault, but didn't realise how unsuitable for people with difficulties. No grab rails in the bath/shower so my husband couldn't shower. Food, staff, manager & hotel fantastic, but not right for our needs. Please put grab rails in bath! Car park to restaurant very steep -... More

Booked a quiet new years eve break with friends. Hotel was extremely accommodating when our friends plans had to change due to unforeseen circumstances. Staff very friendly and efficient. The break had an advertised NYD brunch being served until 1:30. We rolled in at noon to find an empty dining room. Another couple followed shortly after. Apparently a slight lack... More

The views, food, hotel, staff and manager...A Practically perfect place, A treat for my hubby for Christmas. The little touches.. Hot water bottles in the bed, hot chocolate and cake in the room, the daily poems just brilliant. This is how to make you feel comfortable and also valued. It's a bolt hole where you can totally relax. If I... More

We chose this hotel for this year's Christmas break after reading other reviews during the year. It was certainly secluded and right on the slipway of the quay. For the younger element, plenty of local cliff walks. The rooms are very varied and we had number 307 which is one of the smaller ones, but had a king size bed.... More

All went out of their way to make our stay relaxed, comfortable and enjoyable. Room a good size, perfectly clean, well appointed and, within limits of an old building, quiet. Food consistently good, with only a few minor quibbles, outstanding dish was crab soufflé and bisque. A little garnish here and there would have enhanced presentation of what was generally... More
