WOW. i loved this hotel. The staff were the most friendly people in world. I found them helpful and willing to go that extra mile for their guests. When I got to to the hotel I proposed to my girlfriend (she said yes if you all wanted to know) but the hotel did help me set everything up. The rooms... More

A really nice family run hotel with a lot of personality. The service was great and every member of staff was brilliant. Room was lovely and bed was very comfortable, Food in the restaurant was a really high standard and competes with some of the Michelin star restaurants we have eaten in (and very reasonably priced) Will definitely be returning.

Very pleasant stay while visiting friends . Originally put on the 1st floor but as i was on crutches i couldn't manage the stairs so I was lucky enough to go in one of the ground floor rooms - which was part of the old 'stables. Only fault i do have is that the step into the accommodation room was... More

We stayed at the hotel for the weekend and were very pleased with the room we were allocated ( room 28 in the farmhouse). It was very comfortable and had lovely views of the well maintained garden. There was a group of ten of us that ate in the restaurant ; you really need to hold onto that chef as... More

I paid £60 (no breakfast) and stayed in room 16. On first impression looked ok though the bed alarmed me at how low it was. It was when we got into bad later that night that we realised something was off. After getting up several times in the night due to backache we realised the bed had a massive dip... More

myself and my husband were very impressed with our wedding at the Smithaleigh last weekend. All staff were welcoming and friendly and nothing was a bother for them. The room was setup exactly how we wanted it and was changed quickly in between the ceremony and the wedding breakfast and then again for the evening. The food throughout the stay... More

Stayed at the Smithaleigh for 2 nights and my sons wedding and reception were hosted by the Smithaleigh. Was checked in quickly and efficiently. The room was in need of some minor maintenance but was clean, for the room rate it was adequate. Went to the bar, beer was good (Doom Bar) but a little pricey. Went to restaurant and... More

We stayed here last night after coming over on the ferry from France. We were quite late and I must admit we had a problem finding the hotel, it was very dark and we were tired. The A38 is the main road to Exeter from Plymouth and on leaving plymouth city centre it was totally unlit. However we arrived to... More

We arrived at the hotel after a booking for around £45 a night. It was a nice and cheap bargain and quite honestly, neither me or my partner were expecting top notch rooms or service etc. but what we experienced was just atrocious. We were greeted by a nice lady who checked us in speedily and gave us the keys... More
