We stayed here while biking the c2c in late October. Before arriving, we spent many hours riding through wind, rain, sleet, and fog. When we finally arrived, Dave was in the yard to greet us and help us with our bicycles, while Irene was welcoming us with a wave from the front door. She whisked away our sodden clothing to... We booked to go on the Polar Express and this came up on booking.com because it is close it did not however say how remote it was, it wasn't the owners fault the weather was terrible, but the road to it is treacherous our car got stuck and I had to take two small children out and walk, luckily a... The cottage is a long way off the main road down a mainly rough track. The owners took a long time to acknowledge our presence after ringing the doorbell 4 times. We should have known what to expect having seen the cat asleep on the kitchen worktop. Although the owners were pleasant, Dave looked scruffy and dirty. Inside the kitchen... More

I don't often write reviews but on this occassion I thought I would share OUR experience here. We were greeted with a friendly hello but after that it all seemed to go wrong. We had booked the room weeks in advance and later we telephoned to ask for the room to be upgraded to cater for more people, possibly to... More

Although Bee Cottage is hard to find because the neighbouring farmer keeps removing the signs, once found it was a great B&B. Lovely surrounding farmland views with plenty of windows. Dave made an amazing dinner and breakfast with generous hospitality and a smile.Excellent stop along the C2C

We were going to a wedding at Derwent Manor and couldn't get a room there. We found this little place which isn't that far from Derwent Manor, obviously a taxi ride which was around £9 each way. The Farmhouse is very nice, very homely and the owners are very friendly. The room we had was a twin overlooking where guests... More

Four of us stayed at Bee Cottage for one night whilst on the C2C bike ride. Our stay co-incided with the birthday of one of the group, and as we did not want to cart cakes and bubbly around with us, we asked Irene and David to organise some for us as a surprise. They were more than happy to... More

I stayed here with 2 friends on our second night of our Coast to Coast cycling trip (24/08/2014). We were given a very warm welcome on arrival, our bikes were securely stored and we were shown to our room. We stayed in the annex family room which was very comfortable, clean and well stocked. We had our evening meal there... More

When the brochure says it's a field away from the C2C it's right. Some dispute with local farmer means you must push the bike through the field. That said the rooms are clean and comfortable. The dinner on site is excellent as is breakfast. No bother getting a few beers and a glass of wine. Yes there are Cats and... More
