Having just completed a days hike in the moors above, I was looking forward to a swift pint before returning home. Upon entering The Punchbowl, I was met with a smiley happy greeting which was very welcomed. The place was packed with people having their Sunday lunch and the heavenly aroma from the kitchens wafted around the bar area. With... More

Popped in here after a long walk and weekend in the region Warmly welcomed by the bar staff, we were promptly seated and brought our drinks We then tucked into excellent roast beefs and a lamb, followed by splendid sticky toffee puddings and a Christmas pud- just as rich and tasty in June :) Really enjoyed this first visit. Hope... More

I visited this pub for food with some family members who were visiting as it looked nice when we drove past it and it had good reviews. The interior was nice and staff were friendly, but the food was terrible. I had a turkey and ham pie which was utterly tasteless, served with appalling oven chips, definitely not homemade ones.... Stayed here whilst cycling coast to coast. Rooms were clean and tidy. Beds comfortable Cycle friendly, kept the bikes locked in the adjacent shop which is run by the pub. Bit of a hill to get back to the coast to coast route. Still good to see locals in the pub. Shower hot. Food was good in the pub, as... More

Stopped over here for a night during a C2C cycle ride with family. The pub was busy but friendly and served some great ales. Our evening meal was very tasty too and good value. The rooms well clean and well fitted and I had no complaints with a good nights sleep. Breakfast was very good, with great choices, it was... More

Me and my partner have stayed here 4 times over the past year and loved it every time. The rooms have recently been decorated which was nice to see as it shows they are looking to improve. On this visit the rooms were lovely as usual however there was a big difference in food prices. The food was lovely (for... More

This was a great place to eat. The setting is great, I live locally to the punch bowl and went on a recommendation. Went twice in December previous to my visit on new-years day and both times the food was great. Certainly above standard pub food. The place is warm, log fires, really just the place you want to be... More

This place does not look special from the outside but come in and sit by the roaring fire and give the food a chance. I came here for the first time today with 3 members of my family. Two of us had pies, one had a burger and one had a small fish and chips. Everyone enjoyed their freshly prepared... More

I stayed here last weekend whilst we were traveling east to west on a coast to coast bike ride. The staff were very friendly, food was extremely tasty and accommodation particularly comfortable. The hearty breakfast was served with a smile. The special Omelette was particularly tasty. Would recommend without hesitation if you are considering staying here whilst on your C2C... More
