We had a 2 night stay here - there was very little choice of accommodation in the general locality. The village was interesting and appealed to us. There were lovely walks around the reservoir and a visit to the nearby and historic village of 'Blanchland' was most interesting. But for the price we paid we expected a better room. The... More

On Friday Evening we ordered two meals,we were very disappointed, my chips were hard and cold, the scampi was very hard and tasteless. My husbands meal was also cold with cold hard chips and the veggy pie was so hard and he could hardly cut the mushrooms. The bar service was very slow, only one girl on duty and she... More

Have stayed at the Punch Bowl many times and have always had a lovely time. The location is beautiful, if you've never been to Edmundbyers it's really worth a visit. The service cannot be faulted, staff friendly and professional. The pub itself has the feel of a real traditional pub although the rooms have clearly been modernised to a high... More

This was our second visit, once again stopping overnight on our way to Scotland. The Punch Bowl Inn is in a sleepy little village, close to the Derwent reservoir and stunning scenery. The rooms are not large, but had everything we wanted, are beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean with comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms. We ate in the bar, which is... More

I arrived late after a late working shift to be greeted by pleasant staff eager to help me. After being shown my room I was impressed by the quality for such a low price tag! After a short freshen up I entered the bar area and placed an order for food, olives+sun dried tomatoes followed by the beef lasagne(Washed down... More

We visited for a late lunch after a long cycle, We got a warm welcome from the staff and a delicious hot lunch. I do not eat meat and the chioce is very limited in most places. Here there is a good choice of meat free dishes. I loved the mushroom leek and cheese pie with hand cut chips. Really... More
