Visited here for lunch with my husband and two boys. We were made very welcome and the staff were excellent with the kids. They went out of their way to entertain them giving mum and dad a relaxing time before food was served. We have multiple allergies and they were excellent accommodating us! Couldn't expect more. The food was excellent... More

We booked a double room with our dog Hattie. A lovely welcome. Really friendly. The village is lovely. The room was very nice, very comfortable. We had an evening meal which was excellently cooked. It also happened to be quiz night and we were invited to join in. Had breakfast the following morning with lots of different choices. Couldn't have... More

Well I'm disappointed to say that the food was not up to its usual standard. The homemade pie wasn't anything special, I'm told the lasagne wasn't so good either and no vegetables served with it just chips which were not the best it has to be said. Hopefully just a glitch.

Having eaten here several times since we discovered it in the spring, took visiting family today after a walk at the reservoir. I agree with another reviewer, why no children's menu? That was a minor issue. The mince and dumplings, although tasty, was far too salty, as was the steak and ale pie. As we ordered those with chips, there... More

Had lunch and stayed for B&B. Three micro breweries on offer as well as national brands. Long menu with daily specials, reasonably priced. Comfortable bedroom with ensuite; although small, not a problem. Above average breakfast! "The joint was jumping" on Saturday night and clear that the atmosphere draws people from a distance. Well situated for exploring Weardale. Dog friendly.

Lovely spot such a shame the food was such a let down, have to say have had much nicer meals at a fraction of the cost. Briefly most of our party of 5 had the Beef which arrived in the form of two small extremely thin slices which was very fatty and even managed to be tuff, and don't get... More

We had a 2 night stay here - there was very little choice of accommodation in the general locality. The village was interesting and appealed to us. There were lovely walks around the reservoir and a visit to the nearby and historic village of 'Blanchland' was most interesting. But for the price we paid we expected a better room. The... More
