We stayed at the Punch Bowl Inn between Christamas and the New Year and could not have been more delighted . The location is excellent with wonderful views across the moors made even better with the snowfall and bright blue skies. It slovely to find a place thats clean comfortable with excellent food but one where time seems to have... More

We've been here a few times and every time, the service, food and general ambience is always top notch. Try the garlic and blue cheese mushrooms or/and the steak and ale pie. All excellent home cooked pub food. Set in the beautiful Northumberland countryside, what more could you ask ?

Lovely atmosphere country pub. A great find and really high quality food. The mushroom starter was excellent and the extensive range of main courses was a delight. The speciality pies were really tasty and the mince/dumplings was a treat. There were 8 of us and the service was excellent. The pub is dog friendly and has a really relaxed feel.... More

We ate at The Punch Bowl last Saturday night as a group of 8 celebrating a birthday whilst staying down the road at one of the Ruffside cottages (Birchinlee). The food was excellent and there was a really wide range of specials - some really interesting dishes! We all really enjoyed the food - portions were pretty large and some... More

When visiting family in the area, I always make a point of visiting this lovely pub. It is a nice drive into the countryside and Edmundbyers is a pleasant little village. The pub has character and we have always had a friendly welcome from the mostly young staff. The pub menus are written on 3 blackboards placed around the bar.... More

Called in for lunch the other day, following a walk over Muggleswick Common. Good menu with plenty of choice. My husband had the curry dish of the day, and I had salad with Blue Cheese, grilled pear and raspberries. Both well presented and absolutely delicious. We couldn't resist the sweets - again well presented, reasonably priced and VERY delicious. The... More

While visiting friends in this area, we decided to go for lunch at their local pub. Every table was full... a good sign. The staff set a table for us and took our order. The meal was presented piping hot and not long after we'd ordered. I decided not to have the Sunday roast, but had the salmon. It was... More

I have been to The Punch Bowl Inn on a number of occasions for lunch and have never been dissapointed. You get fresh, locally produced food which is tasty and hot. The pies are particularly good and I recommend the steak and ale pie and the game pie! My only minor complaint that you have to buy vegetables separate to... More

My wife and I are staying at The Lord Crewe in Blanchland which has a great restaurant but we wanted a good pub meal this evening so we gave this place a go. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and the bar comfortable. It was easy to chat to the regulars which made this a very pleasant experience. The menu... More
