arrived late after a mix up with another hotel that was booked using last minute.com, the staff at the Royal Norfolk sorted everything out for us and the three other couples that we were traveling with. The room had been recently decorated and furnished very nicely and we had a very comfortable night, highly recommended.

We stayed for one night on our way to the channel tunnel. The room was small but clean with tea and coffee making facilities. Perfectly adequate for one night. Breakfast not included but we left too early for breakfast anyway. We ate a light snack in the pub the night we arrived which was fine

Booked two rooms at short notice when returning back from the continent early. Arrived late around 10:15pm but met with friendly reception and shown to rooms. Although the rooms were adequate in size, they were dated and tired and the price was certainly not justified especially as breakfast was not included. Decided to have a drink in the bar and... More

We had a perfectly nice overnight, on our way across the Channel for a few days. We arrived too late for supper but were given a sound recommendation for a place down the promenade. Room was comfortabe with a huge ensuite that included a desk and an extra wardrobe (not that we needed either). Sincere welcome. Breakfast nice.

We booked the sea view room and before arrival had high expectations for the almost £90 price tag. upon arrival at 2:30 our room had still not been turned over which was an inconvenience. On top of this disorganisation the room itself was extremely disappointed and not as it was pictured on the website: there was only one small window... More

This is a lovely boutique hotel with friendly locals in the bar, and close enough to town with a 5 minute taxi ride, or a gorgeous beach virtually on your doorstep. Meals are good value for money pub grub and very tasty. This hotel is perfect for your cheeky weekend away, particularly when the sun shone continuously the whole time.... More

Hotel/pub was just 10mins from Tunnel. Staff friendly and room was small but clean and ok. Thought it was a bit overpriced considering did not include breakfast. Parking was available but tight and limited.

I booked this hotel site unseen. I've lived in England for three years but this was mum's first trip abroad ever. Let me just say, I'm so chuffed at my stay here that it's prompted my first tripadvisor comment ever. This hotel is absolutely lovely, the rooms more lush than anything I've found in London. The views are beautiful, regardless... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated a stone’s throw from the beach, the Royal Norfolk offers comfortable and well presented accommodation with a family friendly atmosphere. Rag Times, our American style diner serves high quality dishes from Wednesday to Sunday, and G's bar hosts an eclectic mix of live music most weekends. The coastline in front of the hotel is also famous for its sea fishing. Steeped in naval history, the area extends along 2kms of the Kent coastline, with Folkestone and Hythe on either side. For those wanting to take in the fresh sea air, Sandgate offers a range of leisurely walks along the seawall and through the lush coastal park, with awe inspiring views across the Channel. A walk along Marine Parade to Sandgate’s neighbouring town Folkestone, will find you looking at the Leas Lift, one of the oldest water-balanced cliff lifts in England, offering access to the historic Leas Promenade. Other local attractions include the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch steam railway, Hythe Canal, Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, Dover and Leeds Castles and Canterbury Cathedral. With the Channel Tunnel and Eurostar close by, Dover, the busiest port in Britain with its wide choice of cross channel ferries, is only 20 minutes away. The high speed rail link is available from Folkestone Central and West stations with a journey time of 50 minutes to the heart of London. ... more   less
