Stayed one night here, wish it had been longer.Set in a wonderful location, looks like a film set!Saw mixed reviews but we couldn't fault it. Quirky room with low doorway and extreme slope on floor.Everything worked.Good shower, great cookies.Very comfy bed.Shabby chic look which we loved. Good beer, normal prices this is not Wetherspoons!Had the Sunday roast, not a cheap product.Rare breed pork, beautiful fresh veg... More

Visiting relatives in an area we don't know well, this place was recommended to us for lunch. We had gammon, egg & chips, a (large) crayfish sandwich and a portion of chips. Both were very good, as was my pint of Speckled Hen. Friendly staff and easy parking outside. We'll be back there when next in the area.

I nearly wept with joy when we arrived in castle acre at the ostrich inn. This was the third day of an 80 miles walk. I was hot and weary and the discovery of a bath in our ensuite was a welcome surprise. While the men sampled the local beers and tucked into a hearty filled Yorkshire pudding we sampled... More

The beer was fine; the staff friendly and the ambience OK, but the almost £7 ham sandwich was very disappointing. The ham itself wasn't too bad, but only a thin slice and overloaded with salad. The sliced bread was poor, and if butter had been used I couldn't detect it. It's not difficult to make a good ham sandwich: just... More

We were bowled over with the 'Superior room', boutique, great, brilliant. The whole break was made a wonderful experience, by the room, the marvellous friendly staff, great manageress, great locals, and relaxing atmosphere in the pub in the evenings. We found it quirky and the food was exceptional. We travel a great deal throughout the country, from the Isle of... More

We stopped here one night for a meal as they are dog friendly. The food was very nice, although my vegetarian partner found his pasta rather monotonous after a while. I had chicken which was beautifully cooked. It was a little over-priced but we would visit again if in the area. The village is pretty and worth a stroll round.

Although set in a beautiful village and the staff are really friendly, the room was freezing! The shower was filthy and would overflow various times throughout showering, making it a cold and lengthy process. Also you can hear every time the room above flushed their toilet, the boiler was very noisy as was the cleaner in the morning. Breakfast was... More

About time that somewhere in Norfolk apart from Norwich did some decent vegetarian food. I had butternut squash, spinach penne with pine nuts and Parmesan cheese and it was absolutely delicious. All freshly cooked and the service was good as well. My only criticism was that it was a little pricey at £12.95. Apart from that, like I said- delicious.... More

Ate here once and could not believe the prices charged for very average bar food. This is a bistro/pub trying to be all things to all people and satisfying no one. Limited choice of guest beers none that are any good and they are very expensive. Try the Stag in West Acre if you want a proper pint, they have... More

Hi, We recently ran a film production from our location base in Castle Acre. A number of our actors stayed at the Ostrich during the shoot and I cannot recommend the place highly enough. Superb pub, great food, kind staff. A great place.
