As I said I arrived with muddy boots and a dog. Was made To feel as welcome as a Fart in a Spacesuit. Would not call in again if I was passing. I wondered why there was nobody in such a beautiful place. Now I know why. Unless you like bikes. Avoid this place like you would the plague

Visited with friends. Have been before with mixed feelings about the place so decided to give it another go. The fact we could get a table when other local placed were full should have been a warning. Put in corner under very dodgy speaker that kept bursting into crackly life and then silence. Waited ages to order and food when... More

Problem with this particular review making me feel that it is either posted in the wrong location or fraudulent. We can find no record of anyone with that name in our booking diary, we don't sell Jennings, we do sell cider (with the exception of a short period during change over from Thatcher's to Somersby's when we stocked bottled cider)... After a long day over the fells, seeing the pub as you round the corner is one of the most welcome sights on the Dales Way...especially when it's raining. We received a warm welcome and were shown to our rooms. It looks like they have been recently renovated and they are clean, bright and really lovely...the bathrooms are lovely too,... More

Right on the Dales way this pub is great for B&B after the big walk over the top. A traditional old pub with the rooms and dinner menu you'd expect from that. Just what was needed. A great breakfast too.

We stayed here overnight during the Dalesway walk. Arriving just after 4pm to a roaring fire and a friendly welcome, we were shown to our room. No fussy extras but clean and comfy. Husband was impressed with the beer on offer and it was lovely to relax in traditional surroundings which is frequented by locals and tourists alike. Sandra's home... More

Ron and Sandra are full of tales and make it plain that this is a pub that does food not a restaurant that sells beer. Well they do both very well. Don't expect fancy stuff like a mobile signal. This is remote and right by the river which gurgles away peacefully all night. The bar is cosy, the rooms clean... More

We were booked in on our final day on the Dales Way. We arrived at approximately 4:00 and the Landlady showed us in to our rooms .Her son , who is a talented photographer, carried my partners bags to the room which was appreciated. The room was "tired" but a newly refurbished bathroom was quite welcoming. Food was standard pub... More

I'm sorry that I was too busy to take you to the station. This sometimes happens due to my very heavy workload. I must admit that I am a little worried taking people in my car without the proper insurance in place (I am not insured for business / fare paying passengers use) and in an age of blame and... More

I was walking in the Dales and wanted somewhere to stay without spending a fortune. I had never been to Cowgill but had stayed in Dent a number of times with mixed experiences. The pub is quite isolated so very peaceful with lovely views from the front. My room was spotlessly clean with good quality bed linen and a comfy... More

When you walk in wet, cold and freezing what better than to be greeted with a warm fire to put your boots by and a landlady who tells you where to put your wet clothes and says 'don't worry, I'll dry them out later'? Hot home made soup and crusty bread, and, when feeling warmer, a decent pint of bitter... More
