We only ate here but worth the visit. The home made steak pie was excellent, very tasty and the chips were well cooked and plentiful. The building is in keeping with the area - unspoilt and in the winter has a real fire. Quiet spot, friendly staff, walkers and bikers welcome. Car park to rear. We'll be returning.

Set in a lovely location the sportsman has plenty to offer. It serves lovely home cooked food and a good pint. We did not stay overnight but it looked clean and inviting. My only reason for not giving full marks is for the little signs everywhere warning you to keep your children well behaved or they will be leaving early.... More

We arrived dripping wet having cycled down from the station in the rain- some Dales Way walkers arrived at the same time, but the arrival of six or seven very damp people wasn't made a problem, we were all cheerfully welcomed in and everyone's weather gear and boots were set to dry. Our room was comfortable and warm and the... More

I can confirm that it is £75 for a double room per night which is £19 more expensive than quoted on the DW site. This was disappointing as all the other prices quoted had been accurate and we had made the mistake of assuming this one would be as well. All bedrooms have their own bathrooms and our room was comfortable... More

How glad our party was to see the sportsman after a long day on the dales way, this is a pub out of the top draw showing how a husband and wife team working together can provide good ale, fine bedrooms all with a separate deep bath across the hall all in excellent order. The food was good and provided what... They don't allow dogs. Fair enough, but the website mentions "No dogs" only on the accommodation page so we thought they probably allowed dogs in the bar. Still, that's fair enough, but the website would be more helpful if the no dogs were clearer. What was somewhat more puzzling was that we couldn't' even use the bench and table outside... More

Great stay at The Sportsman, its the ideal location to stop on route, lovely room, good size overlooking the river with tea/coffee making facilities & private bathroom on the corridor. Ron is the most entertaining owner and has many a tale to tell, great food and scrummy breakfast, wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Perfect location for the Dales Way. Excellent customer service and the landlord with the best sense of humour! Lovely home cooked food & excellent veggie option. Our double room was small, very comfortable, with lovely views, not an en suite bathroom but a private shower & toilet. A residents room too. A good nights sleep. Would definitely go back!

We stayed here on the third night of the Dales Way and absolutely loved it. We were welcomed by the landlord, who let us up to our room despite the fact they weren't quite ready for check-in yet. Our room (6, I think) wasn't the largest we've ever stayed in, but it was cosy and the bed was lovely and... More

Watch out for the landlord Ron, he is a joker. Our stay at the Sportsman Inn was lovely, when we arrived Ron joked we had got the wrong day, well I was convinced he was right. Anyhow we did get the right day and our stay was good. We left our boots in a line with the others and Ron... More
