We loved it. Lovely people, beautiful place, happy time. There are hens in the garden fer chrissakes! Not only that, but my Lady wanted to kidnap the dog, which, as I made clear, was not cool. Go. Really is lovely. Good value, cracking breakfast, owners Lizzy and Christopher are great.

I could not possibly recommend this guest house enough! Our hosts, Lizzy & Christopher, were so welcoming & helpful & offered us a lift to Babington House where we were attending a function. Our accommodation was stunning- a large bedroom with a very comfy, large bed, a wet-room en suite with Cowshed toiletries, opening into a comfortable lounge area. There... More

We found this B&B via Alistair Sawday, and boy, we were not disappointed! The setting of the house is up a quiet lane, opposite a lovely church (the bells don't chime all night, or at least we didn't hear them!), and nestling close to THE 'Jack & Jill Hill' from the rhyme (all true). Lizzy and Christopher were wonderful hosts,... More

We stayed here for one night and we were made to feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. Lizzy and Christopher are excellent hosts, and our bedroom was gorgeous - as was the bathroom, complete with fab 'Cowshed' products. Breakfast was incredible, complete with freshly baked bread from the next door village, home-made preserves and a cooked breakfast fit... More

I almost like to keep this one a secret! It really is a very special place with such charming hosts. As most of the reviews testify, not only are the amenities first class - beautiful big room with separate sitting room to relax, extremely comfortable bed & lovely linens, great power shower with cowshed treats... all in an idyllic setting... We stayed 2 nights in the ground floor room which had an extremely comfortable bed. The en suite wetroom (converted from the dog kennel!) was excellent. The breakfasts were very good with hot croissants and newly laid eggs from the hens being of particular note. Given the price of the room we were surprised not to have had some little... More

What a find.....a delightful home, a warm welcome from Lizzy and also Mabel the dog....we were at a wedding at Babbington House and were so glad that we chose to stay at The Old Vicarage.....I would have no hesitation of recommending Lizzy and her home to anyone......the stories told over a scrumptious breakfast were truly amazing.........a sleepy little village this... When you book a B&B it's always a bit of a gamble but The Old Vicarage was absolutely outstanding. A beautiful house in a lovely setting, a warm welcome, a relaxing and very stylish sitting room and bedroom, the offer of fresh milk (and a small fridge) for tea, the most comfortable bed ever, great shower and bathroom...the list goes... Last weekend was my second stay at The Old Vicarage and it was as lovely as I remembered it. The first time I went was in September 2012 when I went with friends. We stayed there so that we could go to Babington House in the evening. Last weekend was a romatic getaway. We visited nearby Frome, Holcombe Inn and... More

Lizzy and Christopher made our short stay perfect. We arrived to collect eggs from the chickens, feed the fish and have a bounce on the trampoline, finishing off with a walk up the Jack and Jill hill. What a great start to the holiday, my little boy couldn't have hoped for a better way to stretch his legs. The room... More
