Booked as a groupon deal with dinner, bed and breakfast, and a bottle of wine. To be honest, had read some recent reviews and we weren't really expecting much. Parking and check in was straightforward and we were pleasantly surprised by the room and is facilities. Everywhere was clean and the staff were excellent. They were attentive and efficient. The... I only ever saw conference folk like me there but it's got marvellous grounds and a slightly tired spa gym setup and and old Manor House to one side. I suppose you could stay as a tourist but I didn't notice any

The pictures show this gorgeous manor house hotel and the bedroom photos show old world charm which was exactly what I wanted and I was so excited. I got here this evening check in to find what isn't obvious is that 80% of the hotel is a brand new building and all the standard rooms are boring and basic. Make... More

We booked via Groupon for a night away with evening meal and a bottle of wine. We had a nice welcome and the rooms were lovely, spacious, clean and everything you need. The staff couldn't do enough for you and nothing was too much trouble. The spa has a pool, a steam room and sauna, but no jacuzzi, which was... More

Arrived at 7pm to find both restaurants were closed, due to low occupancy as the hotel is rather remote it meant going to bed hungry, far from ideal, and not four star service. Also if you have low occupancy (only five people in the whole Hotel) why did you put me in a room with a tiny corner non opening... More

We were reassigned to this hotel very last minute after our booked hotel told us they had overbooked. The building and setting are fantastic although the interior is a little tired. We had a suite in the main hall and it was very good. Evening meal in the Halls Moncreiff Restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was superb. The only complaint food... More

We booked this hotel via a online booking agent for a family stay for one night. For a grand some of £250 we were looking forward to staying in this lush main hall building to celebrate a birthday. With our booking we requested that they confirm with the hotel that they could cater for our needs, BEFORE we paid and... More

Very good hotel in a really quiet and peaceful location. Excellent service with good quality breakfast from 06.30. The room was lovely with a comfortable bed and the restaurant serves top quality food. The hotel has an interesting history with a famous previous owner.

I can honestly say it was the worst bed I've ever slept in! Two single beds pushed together with just a thin sheet to cover. Every time I moved or rolled over I could feel the split between the beds! Other hotel generally put a mattress topper to compensate this! If you look for a comfy nights sleep, this is... More

Most of the accommodation is in new blocks around a courtyard, with half the rooms facing out onto rolling countryside. This is a great place for conferences but can also be used as a base for walking or exploring the nearby area, it is not really somewhere for a romantic break as the restaurant has no atmosphere. The staff are... More

Dear Pete_Epsom Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post your feedback on Tripadvisor. I was pleased to read that you found the hotel to be suitable for you, but disappointed that on this occasion we did not exceed your expectations, perhaps next time you have a dinner here you could look at the Moncrieff restaurant as opposed...
