This is the first time we have been to the Brown Trout and it certainly will not be our last! It is very warm, welcoming & cosy, perfect for a relaxing stress free getaway. We took our Springer Spaniel with us, and we were allowed her in the tiled area beside the fire. The food is wonderful, the lamb shank... More

This place needs a serious facelift. Food ok and fires are lovely, but that's about it. Rooms dated and so is the rest of hotel. They have a policy allowing dogs but they need to keep them out of food areas.

The restaurant is in a beautiful setting, the food is deliscious and in portions that would challenge a cinpetitive eater! You will attempt not to waste any though, and the service is so warm and friendly :)

All staff, morning, noon and night make you welcome. We had a wonderful experience with the best food and surroundings, never mind the wildlife. Lots to see and do in the area. We can recommend this as an ideal location at any time of the year.

Stayed here for three nights in a cottage. We stayed on a B&B basis with one evening meal included. We had with us our three month old baby and our dog. The dog was allowed into the bar whilst we had dinner as long as we kept to the tiled area. We could also walk round the golf course along... More

I reviewed the hotel on the same date last year and most of what I wrote then applies to this visit. We went for the three day Christmas break, having booked as we checked out last time (which we shall do again). This year our cat was booked with us. We have only had her a short while and she... We stayed here for the weekend in one of the cottages - such a lovely place. The cottage is spacious and clean with everything you need including a good supply of fuel for the open fire. We had a B&B with an evening meal package but it is very well equipped for self catering with a nice BBQ and picnic... More

Visited as part of a family birthday celebration, stayed in a cottage and was a little worried when I heard they were dog-friendly, expecting them to be a bit smelly stc, however they were immaculate, and fitted out with absolutely everything you could possibly need, including comfortable beds, great bathrooms with walk-in showers, open fire, fully fitted kitchen etc. The...
