house in itself is very very antiquated it has some great old features inside and out, the grounds are massive and the separate old stable block that houses the restaurant is a great feature. staff were very friendly and helpful. unfortunately the bar and restaurant were fully booked out for a private party on our stay so we made use... We spent a NYE at Soughton Hall and had a wonderful time. We booked directly and Rosie helped us to choose the best available room. We decided on Day Nursery which was right at the top (great views of the drive) and came with a massive bathroom (with a corner bath and a separate shower). Contrary to what some people... More

Bar staff unprofessional, had to open own wine bottle on one occasion!!! They didn't know how to use pay terminals and had no knowledge of the wines on list, food appalling, the goats cheese starter was not goats cheese, more like cheddar cheese, the salmon main course looked disgusting! No veg served with main courses and massively overcooked, we were... More

A serendipitous adventure after a cancelled visit to Yorkshire. We stumbled upon the Soughton Hall in Wales to find an authentic and charming former Bishop's Palace, very relaxing and plush. Our hostess, Rose, made us very welcomed. Our Butler's Room was ever so quiet, remote from the rest of the rooms in the very ornate building. Only downside was the... More

I took my wife to Soughton Hall in late November . It was a cold dark night when we turned in to the grounds only to be met with a glorious long drive and the hall all lit up and looking like something out of a enchanting story book .The main hotel lounge looked magnificent with a roaring log fire... I wanted to surprise my mum for a Birthday treat at Soughton Hall this year and found out they were holding a Halloween Ball "Faulty Towers Style" on 31st October. I enquired about the evening and about the menu and was happy with what was being offered: Butternut Squash, Lamb Shank and a Mango Fruit Fool. I requested tickets and... More

Having had Christmas Day dinner at the hall for the last three years and looking forward to going there again this year we are so disappointed to be told by a member of their staff that they would not be doing the dinner in the hall this year. I think we all know that the costing to get good staff... More

We have just returned from a family event at Soughton Hall and we were very disappointed. We chose the venue as we were married at the hall 14 years ago and had very happy memories of the place. Sadly, the experience we had at our wedding was not repeated. There was not a soul to be seen other than the... More

Stayed here for one night on business for the umpteenth time and was again satisfied. The house has so much character and retains many original features (over 300 years old). The house itself is absolutely stunning and one can only imagine what it must have been like to live here in its heyday as a private residence. Breakfast was served... More

After an arduous journey involving four trains, two buses and a walk along a country lane I landed into the lap of luxury at Soughton Hall Hotel where I was warmly welcomed on arrival by Rosie and all the staff were polite and efficient.
