I was part of a large party (Rhyl Folk Club) who were away for the weekend. My room (no.3) was spotless and well decorated with a decent bathroom, although I understand some of the attic rooms are fairly small. The floorboards in the corridor were very creaky; it's all part of the charm but it could disturb you if you're... More

I understand that The Dragon is now under new ownership and a complete renovation/modernisation of the hotel is planned. We had one of the 'deluxe' rooms at £89 and it's fair to say that this is one of the rooms yet to be spruced up............ bathroom a bit shabby and the main bedroom tired and in need of attention in... The hotel is sited at the end of the market square in Mongomery. It is a traditional tudor style building, which is quite imposing. The staff are all very welcoming and extremely helpful. We had not reserved for dinner and the dining room was fully booked by a large group from Rhyll. But we were offered a table in the... More

Very friendly staff and decent bar area. Rooms clean and with usual facilities. The attic rooms are a bit cramped albeit full of character. The bathroom requires you to be a contortionist to get a shower! Not ideal for people with less than average mobility or flexibility!! Great off road parking for motorcyclists like us. Overall memorable and good value.

I emailed the hotel when I booked the hotel to see if we could use a room to change in before shooting off to a wedding at Mellington Hall. I had a phone call from (James) who was most helpful. He asked me to call back the day before we arrived and he arranged a taxi and a room. He... More

Finding ourselves in Montgomery on a very hot day we had some difficulty fining somewhere for lunch owing to tho lovely weather and a number of tourists wandering around. We found the Dragon which was a 17th Century coaching inn. We had dogs with us so climbed up the outside steps where there were a few tables on different levels.... More

We had an interesting time at the hotel, however, it didn't strike me as being very disability friendly, which would put off a lot of especially older people, as it had too many stairs, and one kept bumping one's head on the oak beams and low ceilings in the room. However, the food was good and the staff were helpful.

Originally a 17th Century coaching inn, now very much a hotel/pub/restaurant. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Upon booking in we were told that the hotel is gradually being refurbished and although there was a bit of noise it would finish be 5pm, which it did. The room we had was clean with an en-suite bathroom. The room itself... More

We stayed here overnight whilst walking Offa's Dyke a little off route but worth the effort. We were at the top for the building and the roof was a little low but that was the only fault we have. The staff are friendly and helpful, nothings to much trouble. The breakfast the next morning was excellent with plenty to choose... More

Lovely hotel, undergoing refurbishment but this did not affect our stay. The food was lovely, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in had not yet been refurbished, but it was still very nice, not at all tired, with good facilities.
