We needed to get away and slow down. Parked in the square, checked in, nipped over to The Dragon, quick wash...... Fantastic aperitifs (parmisan biscuits wow), friendly service, okay so I didn't understand one item on the menu, but clearly explained without me feeling foolish. Thank you Kathryn. White wine with a zing, green lip my favourite. Excellent food, friendly... More

Went for one night stay on a weekend.very comfortable room, low ceiling for washroom! This wasn't a problem ,but NOT having a shaver point ,or being offered a connection with a lead to the bedroom points was not very helpful.its a known problem ,so should be sorted out!xalso I hate small wet rooms as there's water near the toilet, might have been... Thank you once again for an excellent lunch! Attentive front of house especially as I was on crutches and nothing was too much trouble ... even finding a stool and cushion fot my foot! However it is all about the food and wow what a beautiful starter of lobster stuffed courgette flower with scallops! Andrew had boudin (adeliciously light mousse... More

This is the third time at Checkers and this time we brought 21 people with us for lunch. I don't know why I write reviews and introduce others to this restaurant with rooms as I stand little chance of getting in again! Both we and everyone else we tell about The Checkers rave about the place. It is the nearest... More

The room was well appointed and comfortable, the low door into the bathroom wasn't a problem to us but may have become an irritation if we had stayed for a few days. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. We would definitely recommend it.

We have stayed and eaten at The Checkers 6 or 7 times in the last 15 months. I cannot recommend it too highly. We usually stay in Agen, which overlooks the beautiful village square, but have never been bothered by noise from the street. The room is fairly small, but very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The bathroom is down a... More

I bought a special overnight stay for my husbands birthday. We stayed in the Agen room which was lovely, beautiful furnishings and lovely super king sized bed with a free standing bath in the bathroom(which was a bit of a challenge when I washed my hair !!). We appreciated the tea and coffee making facilities and also the hand made... More

We came here on a two day midweek DB&B break. The Checkers is an old coaching inn that has been refurbished in a French theme throughout. Light, airy and very comfortable. Our room was in the annexe, which is accessed across the roof terrace. Lots of nice touches, homemade biscuits, L'Occitane toiletries, bottled water and soft white towelling robes. Friendly,... We have just returned from two nights at the Checkers and loved everything about it - the amazing food, the superb village location, the friendly & professional staff and the cosy & comfortable accommodation were all first class. I'll start with the food. On our first evening we ate from the a la carte menu and on the second, brought... More

We ate the 6 course tasting menu with a group of friends. The food was excellent, the mint dessert was the only dish not finished. A corked bottle of wine was replaced without drama, service was attentive but not intrusive. Planning to return early next year.
