Had a fantastic stay at Friars Carse Hotel. My wife and i needed a relaxing break and we got exactly that. Stunning views from our bedroom, a large bedroom with seating area and you could hear a pin drop in the mornings and evening. Bedrooms were spotless and the food was great, though looked as though they could of done... more

I attend a Marquee Wedding in November, I had been to lots of weddings throughout the year and the thought of a Marquee in November really wasn’t appealing, however my husband and I needed a break from work after all. On arrival at the hotel I was greeted with the most magical of buildings so Castle like and very grand... more

I booked this hotel without reading the comments on the internet and was a bit worried when I read the internet comments shortly after booking - I need not have worried. On arrival at the hotel the staff were helpful and friendly and that set the tone for the 2 day break - I cannot fault the staff who were... more

I stayted in Friars Carse for one night and expected more! The staff were friendly and helpful when we arrived to check in. I got a great key (see the picture for a laugh!). When I got to my room after going through the beautiful reception area and up the staircase with the newly laid carpet I though my room... more

As someone who has stayed at the hotel on numerous occassions I feel that I should express the disappointment I felt upon my last stay. On arrival we were checked in by a very pleasant dark haired girl on reception who made sure that we were alright in getting to our room and booked us a space for dinner. When... more

My wife and I stayed here mid week with friends, it was great! Friendly staff, great service, very clean, bar drinks were very resonabley priced and breath taking grounds. Huge potential with on going cosmetic work beeing carried out. This is beeing tackled by a fresh management team, with no disruption to guests. New general manager with enthusiasm and charm,... more

Have been to this hotel many times. My son and I use it as a base to tour the area. We take mountain bikes. The surrounding area is generally cycle friendly, especially the coastal routes. The staff always are eager to please, friendly ,and helpful. Rooms are clean, tidy functional, and quiet. Beds are comfortable. The hotel is popular for weddings, and on a... more

I went for a relaxing and peaceful midweek break and that's just what I got. The staff were friendly, polite and not intrusive. The cleanliness was much improved from my last visit four months ago. The food has improved, with plenty of choice and they had no problem doing small portions. Much more organised made more apparent by the new... more

It was nice to see that its being taken in hand. A nice warm welcome and good food with a wide choice. Service was a little slow but made up for by the helpfulness. It was also nice to be shown all the future referbs thay have going on. The only way is up for them. Well done ! I... more

A beautiful setting with real potential but the hotel is shabby and has been neglected. The food was drab and service slow. It is exactly the sort of place you see on Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares where the staff have no pride or enthusiasm in their work. The room had a stale, horrible smell and the mouldy grout in the... more
