Friars Carse is a fabulous hotel,we stayed there recently in a very comfortable room with views over the grounds. We ate in the restaurant one evening and the meal was delicous, me and my husband both said it was one of the best meals we'd ever eaten. The grounds are lovely and peaceful, we walked along the river which is... More

Just stayed two nights at the Frairs Carse for a wedding. The stay and wedding was fantastic. The wedding went off without a hitch. The hotel team where fantastic, smiley and organised. We stayed Bed & Breakfast, the breakfast was brilliant. Local produce used. The food for the wedding was also excellent. The location of the hotel is ideal for... More

Have just returned from a 2 day R and R break at the Friars Carse hotel and it did the trick . Large comfortable room, magnificent surroundings, tranquil yet absorbing at the same time. A Baronial style castle/country house encircled by the river Nith beautiful! A fantastic well priced break for age group 50's onward. The staff were young ,helpful,... More

Friars Carse hotel is in a lovely situation on the banks of the river Nith and is popular with salmon fishers. It also has historic associations with Rabbie Burns. The farm where he lived and worked is a short walk down river. We received a friendly welcome on arrival, were offered help with our bags and given all the information... More

The Friars Carse nearly but not quite makes for a good stay. The staff are courteous and helpful, prices are reasonable and the setting is rural and delightful. The decor though is tired and details just fail to impress; very hit and miss food - inedible Caesar Salad and long cooked breakfast bacon spring to mind - towels folded while... More

Having stayed at Dumbleton Hall, a sister hotel in the Cotswolds, we have been receiving welcome E mails with offers for the Lakeside Hotel at Coniston (which we intend to visit next) and Friars Carse. The cost was similar to a B & B but the service and surroundings were allied to so much more. Our deal gave us DBB... More

This was part of a research trip - the hotel has a Robert Burns connection and I'm working on a new book - but we hope to be back to this peaceful and comfortable hideaway. Our room at the front of the hotel had a beautiful view of the River Nith. The dinner, booked at the same time as our... More

We picked up our offer of two nights stay from Groupon. The setting for this hotel is superb and the extensive grounds a delight to walk around on those warm sunny evenings. Being a relatively old building you can notice parts which could do with a little TLC, especially on the higher levels. This should not distract you from the... More

Hotel is set in beautiful grounds but the rooms need updating. The bedroom furniture looked tired and the wallpaper was beginning to peel off, same goes for the bathroom which had a stained shower curtain and the shower blew hot then cold. The windows were only single panes which meant that it was noisy and unfortunately for us there was... More
