A large group of us enjoyed an excellent Christmas lunch here. The staff were very flexible in offering additional choices on the menu and patient in answering our queries. We were welcomed warmly and all staff were efficient and helpful. Highly recommended.

Bought a Travel Zoo voucher as an early Christmas present for my husband after being given a glowing recommendation by close friends. It was just fabulous. We stayed on a Sunday night and the hotel was relatively quiet - just how we like it. We received a warm welcome, on arrival, not only by reception but by the roaring inglenook... More

My husband and I stayed here recently for 3 nights whilst he spent 2 days fishing on the river. This was our 2nd stay at the hotel, the first time being in 2013 which we enjoyed very much. The hotel is very impressive, sitting in it's own grounds on the banks of the river with spectacular scenery. Decor is on... More

We enjoyed a 4 night stay with my parents as my husband and father were fishing on the hotels beat. We had a fantastic stay, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel it's self is full of character we were upgraded to the honeymoon suite - which was gorgeous, very spacious with beautiful views and a luxurious bathroom.... More

Stayed for two days and we really enjoyed our brief visit. Room (Elm) was warm and very clean, plenty of hot water etc. Staff very courteous and attentive. Evening meal and breakfast were very enjoyable and well presented. Lounge with leather settees and open log fire quite stunning. Our large dog also enjoyed this relaxing space. Lovely walks along side... More

I love this place! This is the second year we have stayed here and I'm hoping to be back again and again. The hotel is comfortable and slightly eccentric, but so friendly, homely and hospitable. My two dogs are welcomed, and blankets and bowls are provided for them in our room. The walks along the river are fantastic, and the... More

Stayed at the Friars for one night and had a good stay. Mixed feelings about the hotel as I love old, historic buildings but this one is needing a bit of tlc. The large reception area with dark oak walks and a roaring log fire is great but the less said about the room the better. Although clean, the room... More

My husband and I spent a very enjoyable two nights at this hotel. The room was quite small and in need of a wee refurbishment but it was clean and tidy. The staff were all polite and courteous. The view of the river Nith from our bedroom at the front of the hotel was like a postcard with gorgeous autumnal... More

Myself and my wife have just come back from a 2 night stay at Friars Carse. The grounds are beautiful and very quiet. The room we stayed at was spacious enough probably could have done with bringing up to date. The lobby area is beautiful and grand with its burning fire and comfy leather sofas. The only problem with the... More
