The view from our room was the best thing about the Brackenrigg inn. We stayed there before going to a wedding the following day. Out of 7 of us, 5 were ill after eating the breakfast. We complained when leaving, but were pretty much told they didn't believe us. The manager said they would 'get back to us' after we... More

Dear BabyEngland, I understand how disappointing it can be when expectations fail to be met and I sincerely regret that, in this instance, your experience at Brackenrigg was unsatisfactory. I can assure you that all of the staff at Brackenrigg are fully committed to offering a quality product and indeed operate a value policy for guests. After your complaint, a... More

We booked Brackenrigg as a change from our usual break in Bowness, as we wanted to see a quieter part of the Lakes. We arrived early but were still able to check in before 4.00. the rooms seem a little dated, in need of some cosmetic work but our room was warm and comfortable. (Room 10) There were a few... More

Dear Wormcake, Thank you for reviewing us. Ullswater is a very beautiful part of the lake district national park, it has magnificent scenery and is a perfect area for fell walking. For the sake of clarity I would like to state that Brackenrigg is an 18th century coaching inn which was rated 3 star inn, in the guest accommodation category,... More

Have just returned from a two night stay-using a Groupon voucher + an extra fee(due to voucher expiring through ill health). Outstanding setting-hotel overlooks Ullswater-beautiful.Staff warm ,welcoming and friendly.Restaurant fabulous-both staff and quality of food.Only disappointment was our accomodation-room 9.It was so noisy, almost like being in a boiler room(which we were situated above)-both first thing in morning and until 11pm... Stayed here as a family in a cottage room on short break. Room was good and laid out well for family room, so often four crammed in a room is a struggle but this was over two rooms and worked well. As the rooms have flexibility of being joined there are two interconnecting doors, the children in the next door... More

Dear Scarr11, Thank you for your review. Brackenrigg does get very busy during the Easter holiday period but we always strive to offer the best possible service and food; and no matter how busy, it is always valuable to hear constructive feedback from our guests. I have passed your comments on to our head chef for his action. Good to... More

Stayed for a weekend in March, got it through a Groupon voucher - 2 nights for 2 people with breakfast for £79, so a very good price. Great for dogs as we had a upstairs cottage with separate bathroom and a landing where we put the dog. Friendly bar and restaurant - very accommodating. Food was excellent, and available all... More

Stayed here on a 3 night groupon deal which was excellent value for money. The hotel is only 10 minutes from the M6 and has lovely views of Ullswater and the hills. Rooms are comfortable enough but a separate bathroom to ease tired limbs after walking would be a bonus as our room only had a small shower. Food and... More
