Spending time at this wonderful hotel on the shores of Ullswater in the Lake District makes you feel as though you have gone back in time and are now an honoured guest at an house party in the 1930s. At any moment I expected Jeeves and Bertie Wooster to materialise around some corner. Seriously, Rampsbeck is very atmospheric with fabulous... More

Rampsbeck sits well off the road in lovely gardens looking on to Ullswater and the fells beyond. We stayed in Ravenoak which is a very large and comfortable suite on the ground floor. I didn't like having to pass through the restaurant service area to reach it but there is an additional door onto the car park which is ideal... More

The Rampsbeck is in my view is a true jewel in the lakes. I have now stayed twice at this hotel and it simply surpasses service and quality. The staff are professional and courteous. The rooms are simply perfect and if you are lucky enough to have a room overlooking Ullswater then the views are spectacular. The highlight of my... More

Booked a night B&B for our silver wedding anniversary treat. The dinner was really good- lovely canapes, amuse bouche, petit fours etc and delicious food, plus we sat afterwards by the fire in a lovely room. The bedroom was spacious but perhaps not as sumptuous as I had hoped for the top price- also our booking confirmation from Secret Escapes... More

We visited the hotel on 31st December and enjoyed an absolutely stunning nine course fine dining dinner. Each course was served and described to us by a very proficient waiting team. The portions were small in keeping with the number of courses being served and each came beautifully presented and tasted magnificent. Each element helped to bring out the taste... More

The hotel was great allowing us to change our booking because of storm Frank. We arrived at 12 noon today, had a lovely bar snack before going for a walk. Very wet underfoot, we will return in summer to explore more. What an amazing room; waterside. Large 4 poster bed. Fruit, water, nice coffee and biscuits. The evening meal and... More

We stayed here for three nights on their Christmas package. We could not fault our stay in any way. The staff are fantastic, always smiling, very professional and will help in any way they can. The food was amazing. We stayed in room 16 with our two dogs. The room was very comfortable, roomy and with access to a side... More

Just returned from Rampsbeck -3rd visit and still as good as ever. The staff are so friendly yet professional, the rooms are lovely, spotlessly clean and very comfortable ( only niggle is that the lighting could be better) Food is excellent both dinner and breakfast were delicious -the beef on the dinner menu was amazing. Well done Rampsbeck can't wait... More

I feel I must be abnormal .The Hotel has many things to commend it.I would not criticise as its obvious that what it is pleased so many people. My reasonable comment would be that on our visit it lacked personal touches, warmth and and overall evidence of any strong visible management. The restaurant lacked any sparkle, was unduly precious and sombre. This did not feel... Arrived on the coldest night of the Autumn to find no log fire in the reception area. The evening meal, main course, very sparse. Hardly any potatoe and veg. Room was very nice. The hotel lacked atmosphere.
