Lovely old house and garden; oak panelling in lounge, comfortable bed in clean and well decorated room, good breakfast, welcoming hosts. Easy to get to and from Stansted airport by bus or taxi. Birchanger itself a lovely village and the local social club allows visitors to eat there- very cheap beer!

Stayed for one night. Made to feel very welcome. Room was lovely overlooking a beautiful garden. The ambience of the hotel was lovely. We were served a lovely breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble. When we departed were offered help to car and our host saw us on our way.

An exceptional accommodation with a warm and friendly welcome and environment. Rooms are extremely cosy, breakfasts excellent and a highly recommended place to stay. There is so much to be said for the personal touch and a very friendly welcome

Was highly recommended for a family wedding we attended. Everything was of a high standard. We received a very warm welcome and nothing was to much trouble for the owner. We will be staying again in the summer.

A very warm welcome from Keith the owner, nothing was too much trouble. The main building is truly beautiful from 17th century. Comfortable bedroom and excellent breakfast served in the conservatory over looking the garden.

Spent one night at this bed and breakfast. The location is nice and if you were taking a flight from Stanstead Airport would be ideal. Soundproofing between rooms is very bad and the room decor is definitely stuck in the 1990's so could definitely do with some updating but I undersand that it is under new ownership so hopefully this... Even an overnight pre-flight stay can bring unexpected pleasures. No disrespect to the major hotel chains but for a restful stay for one or two, this Guest House provides an oasis of tranquility just a short way from the airport. An immediate warm welcome from Phillip whose presence is reassuring but never intrusive. The Three Willows pub qv. Is well... More

Had such a warm and pleasant welcome from Phillip who took time to show me around and made me feel genuinely welcome.Room was large and spacious overlooking the garden.After... More

We booked a one night stay at the Cottage Guest House as we had a wedding to attend in Bishops Stortford. The location of the property is in the village of Birchanger which in itself is a lovely village. The house is set in very quiet, pretty private grounds. We were shown to our room by the new owner of... More

Last weekend my son married in Farham, a village nearby. I was lucky enough to be recommended The Cottage for all our friends to stay. from the first moment I contacted John and Angela ( the proprietors ) they were superb, incredibly professional and helpful. We occupied every room. Their standards are high, accommodation beautifully comfortable and squeaky clean. The... More
