Visited for a wedding and the hotel and grounds offered a spectacular backdrop for photos. The bedroom was reasonable but bathroom was dated and felt a little bit grubby. The hotel does offer a gym and spa but they're about as basic as you can get. With all its bars and lounges you'd expect the staff to be a certain... More

I've a fondness for Tortworth because this was where my wedding reception was 10 years ago and we returned here for our 10th anniversary on a Secret Escapes deal which included cream tea, meal, overnight stay and breakfast. As a deal, its pretty good value for money and the building and grounds are superb, but there are just too many... More

We stayed over a busy Bank Holiday week-end. Check-in and out were excellent and the room was of a good size and well appointed and very clean. The shower was superb. The location is great and the hotel is on a large site. You can walk around the hotel under cover and park close to your rooms - tip -... More

I went to a Rod Stewart tribute (less said about the artiste the better) last weekend with friends. First the good stuff - is a stunning building and location. The rooms are lovely and of high standard. And serves the best breakfast I have ever had at a hotel. But is so let down by greed and poor reaction to... More

Friendly. Beautiful. Sunny. Gardens. Orangery. Paintings. Fine food. Terrace bar. Spacious rooms. Restful. Just a few words about our stay with the in laws for their 50th wedding anniversary. They were given a lovely room overlooking the gardens. The spa isn't the most plush I've visited but it is was nice and we enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. The restaurant... More

We stayed on a Friday night on a Secret Escapes deal. Afternoon tea was brilliant. Dinner wasn't - food was cheap in terms of lack of the quality that we have had at similar hotels. Breakfast was OK. The building is lovely, as are the grounds. Our room was in one of the new areas and it was big and... More

This is a wonderful hotel, a lovely building, great service, excellent bedrooms (we had a Superior Room), a very good breakfast, good swimming pool and a superb restaurant serving really good food. Service was good in all areas, nothing was too much trouble. I'd thoroughly recommend the place and hope to return soon. Also looked like an excellent wedding venue.... More

Beautiful surroundings and a lovely house. The rooms are clean and staff friendly. The big let down here is the price and quality of food and drink. Both are hugely overpriced and this takes away from the overall enjoyment. There is nice little pool and spa with sauna and steam rooms. Weddings are clearly the core business for this hotel,... Visited here on Friday evening with six friends to eat at the restaurant. From the moment we arrived, the service was extremely poor. After we were seated, no one came to take our drinks order so we had to go to the bar to order ourselves. Whilst at the bar, a member of staff commented that there was no need... More

We booked to stay at the hotel after finding a deal on Secret Escapes (room, afternoon tea and dinner). Overall we liked the hotel, but an unfortunate event later soured the stay. Hotel Lovely building, beautiful grounds and reasonably convenient location. The main building is really beautiful, although most rooms seem to be at the back in different buildings. You... More
