My first trip back since mid 2015 and following a much needed renovation. However, the food service is still shockingly poor with multiple items not available from the menu. Even when we finally ordered, we were then told the starter was no longer available. Very poor!

I have stayed in the area many times and managed not to know about The Bowl Inn which is a shame as it is an excellent pub B&B with what appeared to be good food. I ate before I arrived but has a dessert which was nice. The place has clearly had some well thought out modernisation but still retains... More

We visited The Bowl Inn on our way back from Plymouth to Scotland. We arranged to meet friends there who live in Chippenham. It was a far better alternative than a service station. There is a car park across the road which you need to get a ticket for (£1) but this is refunded when you place your order. We... More

Husband and I stayed en route to Cornwall on business. The evening meal was lovely and the following morning breakfast was fine. However, the downstairs room (I believe it was room 12) was disappointing! Fairly small and you could hear every noise from the room above, every footprint, squeak, walk to the bathroom (need I go on?) etc etc! My... More

The pub part is very attractive in a quiet village. There is free parking over the road, if you get a ticket from the pub. You can access the rooms separately. My downstairs room was very pleasant had a good bed, but was slightly small. There is free WIFI, but only a small table if you want to work. The... More

As with all my reviews I am writing under headings so that you can get straight to what you want and skip anything that you don't. Where possible tips for getting the most out of your visit are included. Who goes there? Almost anyone - although the rooms are not large and are best suited to one or two adults.... More

A charming location, peaceful and friendly. This old building recently refurbished has a beautiful old world feel but with all the modern comforts. The bar and restaurant are traditionally styled in a very tasteful fashion. A warm homely atmosphere comes as standard and is complimented by attentive friendly staff and wonderful food. The rooms are modern without being vulgar, clean... More

Dropped in for a lunch time bite to eat, nearly an hours wait for food despite the restaurant being practically empty. Food was acceptable, but nothing special. Even after acceptance of the delay from the waiting staff, there was very little recognition of the inconvenience caused and no offer of compensation for time. A shame as I have enjoyed dining... We stayed in March and made the reservation with Booking.com as there was more detail on their website than on the Bowl's own site. I requested a quiet room as a lot of feedback went on about the church and road. Yes on a Sunday morning there will be church bells, that's what happens. I asked for a late check... More

I have stayed at the Bowl Inn during my Buisness trip to Bristol. It was a very nice little place and the staff was very helpful. The Rooms were small but the beds were very good. Had a wonderful sleep. The Pub was very originally and again the staff was very friendly. The breakfast was served very fast and tasted... More
