Hempstead House, Reservation handled efficiently. Welcome was warm, staff seems to be efficient although our dinner reservation, made before arriving in the UK, was lost – in the event, this was not a problem. It appears the hotel caters mainly to corporate meetings but also has reputation as a spa, which very busy. Landscaping is beautiful. We stayed here for... More

A deeply unimpressive spur of the moment dinner here as I was staying locally. Everything very 1970's including the slow service..overly fussy as well. Very highly priced food that didn't deliver on any level..and a dreadful selection of wine by the glass. No real effort made to resolve the issues I raised on the evening..the second attempt at chips were... More

Stayed here for one night, arrived mid afternoon to use the spa. The hotel is a little old fashioned - my husband likened it to staying at his grandma's house, but in a quite sweet way! Spa was very nice, great facility that we both really enjoyed. Staff were nice. A couple of slightly odd things, including someone spending quite... More

We have just enjoyed a really lovely evening at this hotel. It is a beautiful hotel in a peaceful setting. The food is delicious and the service first class. It is a family run business who pay great attention to detail. I have experienced all of the following at this hotel: a spa day, afternoon tea for two, a business... More

We stayed for 1 night as we were in a wedding party, we had a fantastic stay. Staff were very welcoming, polite & pleasant. The room was beautiful, bed was so comfy and the shower room was spotless. Food was cooked to perfection, lots of empty plates!! The only downside was the fact it wasn't a quiet sleep, staff putting empty bottles... More

Myself and five friends booked an overnight package which included dinner, bed and breakfast, and a treatment, plus use of the spa facilities until 5pm on check out day. The decor is a little dated but he rooms are comfortable. The whole hotel and spa is imacculately clean and well looked after. The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly without... More

Hempstead House is a privately run hotel that is quite simply one of the best I have ever stayed in. Each rom is individual and it just makes each visit different. The Lakes restaurant has a small but superb menu served by white gloved staff. On my two visits I have seen a wedding each time and the whole venue... More

A useful base for touring in the area. Room was comfortable, bathroom a good size, but had a fundamental problem in that shampoo and liquid soap dispensers (assuming these are acceptable to you - we don't much like them) were at other end from shower of very slippery bath ( we had to ask for non-slip mat) and fixed so...
