Arrived late as had traveled down from Scotland. First impression was "What have we let ourselves in for", Staff friendly enough and checked in quickly, on way to our room, we found the decor dated to say the least with stair carper threadbare in places. There was also that mould smell you get whe carpets are not clean. Room was... More

I would recommend a stay at the George it is friendly and excellent service and well placed for accessing all parts of the city. Whether business or pleasure this hotel is excellent. The bar area is large and can offer some private seating if needed.

I had booked three rooms, as we were a party of ten. I have never written such a bad review about anything, and this is a first. Place is really run down and very unclean, very minimal parking (both size and number). Location is opposite another pub and in town. When one family went in to their room, they found... More

The George desperately needs a face lift. Extremely helpful staff, free Wi-Fi, nice fresh linen and affordable food are no compensation for worn stair carpets, damp stains on walls, broken bathroom fittings, non-functioning TVs and a general air of neglect. Some sensible investment could return The George to its 1920's splendour again.

Stayed for one night only while visiting a friend. The hotel is an older Victorian style, clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I had booked a single ensuite room which was ok sized and the bathroom was nicely appointed. Breakfast was included, you can’t beat a full English! I booked through bookings.com and got a good deal.... More

Stayed here recently and can report that the hotel needs work done on it. I was just pleased I was only there for 2 nights. That was enough. Only one socket in the room under a dressing table which blocked the use of it too. That would be fun plugging in the kettle as cord does not reach. Hair dryer... More

The reception staff were outstanding! Rooms clean and large enough for families. I was pleasantly surprised after reading other reviews on here. Perfect for families, it's not a la carte, but then it doesn't profess to be! Thanks for a great stay :

We stayed at The George on the recommendations of friends who live in the area. They had said that a lot of money had been spent on The George. They failed to say that it was spent ten years ago. Firstly, the staff were absolutely excellent. The hotel is pretty much in the middle of Burslem, which is four or... More

We found the George to be clean and the beds comfortable though the room was somewhat dated. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We didnt eat there as we were visiting my son but the breakfast looked ok. The only problem we had was with the parking but it was manageable.

Stayed here with 2 young children. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is dirty and run down. The beds were very uncomfortable, the shower awful (luke warm water at best and no power at all, was like standing under a dripping tap) the room was cramped and very dated with paper hanging off the walls.
