Needs demolishing, decorated during world war 2 and serving food that looks like it might have been sitting on the side since then. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. DISGUSTING had a burger that tasted worse than horsemeat and my wife had carbonara that looked like scrambled eggs. Staff were very helpful but this hotel is well passed its sell by date.

I wasn't expecting much from The George, I have chosen it because I needed something very close to Port Vale Football Ground and this was within very short walking distance. Upon arrival I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist, who was very professional and helpful. I was however a bit disappointed by my room. I didn't expect 5* by... More

I visited with my partner for lunch on Sunday 19th April. we were greeted by a friendly waiter, who showed us to our table and explained we go to the bar to get drinks and pay for the carvery. Service in the bar was quick and efficient. We were served at the carvery by a friendly Chef who was carving... More

The George was the finest hotel in the local area but started to go downhill in the 1980s based on what my parents have said. This hotel dates back to an era where the Royal Doulton factory round the back once stood but is now a crumpled mass of debris. Fortunately despite the decline of the local area, this hotel... More

I know this hotel is a faded shadow of its historical past, but I was very happy with my 2 night stay. Great breakfast and fairly good bar dinner ( Steak & Ale pie). Also after the gig I was atending - the night porter was first class - kept the bar open until no-one could handle any more! And... More

Although I have never stayed at the George, I have eaten their Sunday Carvery on many occasions and found the staff and food to be of top quality. Friendly and good value for money, it puts many other 'chain pubs' Sunday offerings to shame. Recommended.
