We stayed at The George on the recommendations of friends who live in the area. They had said that a lot of money had been spent on The George. They failed to say that it was spent ten years ago. Firstly, the staff were absolutely excellent. The hotel is pretty much in the middle of Burslem, which is four or... More

We found the George to be clean and the beds comfortable though the room was somewhat dated. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We didnt eat there as we were visiting my son but the breakfast looked ok. The only problem we had was with the parking but it was manageable.

Stayed here with 2 young children. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is dirty and run down. The beds were very uncomfortable, the shower awful (luke warm water at best and no power at all, was like standing under a dripping tap) the room was cramped and very dated with paper hanging off the walls. For... More

My husband and I had out wedding reception here on May 24th 2014 and the George made it the most amazing day!! From the minute we booked we had fantastic service by all staff and mainly Milly who coordinated the day. We had over 200 guests which was a push but everything that we wanted was catered for and all... More

Visited with two friends just for an evening meal. Entrance to hotel old fashioned but clean. However shocked at being charged £1.30 for half a pint of lime and soda. One of the party had just soda at 60p so presumably one shot of what was on their admission, not very strong (ie cheap) cordial cost 70 pence which is... More

I was born in Burslem some 70 years ago and have since moved to Lincoln. My wife and I saw this as a nostalgic return to the "Potteries" and to the hotel where our wedding reception was held in 1966. Although it gives me no pleasure to do so, I feel sufficiently disappointed in our one night stay to place... More

On driving to the hotel from Manchester thought, oh dear! But once reached it 'wow' situated on the corner with flags outside looked stunning. Husband checked in and moved car outside only had to pay a £1 (won't break your bank). *Wedding reception was been held in the ballroom and lounge (which we could still use for a drink) and... More

Firstly the staff at this hotel are very polite and helpful, but they cannot do everything. e.g. two staff to serve breakfast (15 in dining room) plus work in the reception where the bell was rung at least 7 times before someone came. The hotel is old and run down, dirty, beds uncomfortable, bathroom needs updating, toilet very noisy, carpets... More

On arrival immediately told I should move car, due to being parked on a reside cal zone, all hotel parking on street. Cost £1 but saved me a ticket. In room bedding and towels fresh and clean, although the room was dated. perfect for our short stay. Toilet looked quite modern although shower head was leaking. This was reported the... More

The colleagues who work in the hotel were lovely can't fault them at all. However the rooms are old very old and dirty. Really need to modernise as it's really expensive for what you get. Paper missing from walls closet smelt damp. The Bed had seen better days it was far to small and extremely creaky and had a very... More
