I've never had the courage to stay overnight, eating in restuarant and drinking in bar was enough to put any adult off. The way the management run this establishment is akin to a night club, blaring music greats the unwary, loutish local miscreants abound and the " lady " of the house spends all her time the wrong side of the... I am sorry if you didn't have a good experience at The Bell, however I do feel your review is not completely factual. I am the Landlady here at The Bell, and I agree that I do not spend enough time behind the bar however that is not through choice, I have recently had spinal surgery and have been on... More

Just had a lunch at this pub which is also a hotel. Our dog was welcome on the hard floor parts of the pub and was given an unasked for but welcome bowl of water. We asked to order some lunch and were told there was a wait as they had two private parties they were catering for. This was... More

Thank you for your kind words, I will pass them on to our staff members! We are very dog friendly here, I am an animal lover and feel they deserve the same service as their owners! We hope to see you again. Many Thanks Sally Dennis & All at The Bell More

12 of us booked a meal here for 7.30 on Saturday past. We arrived and sat down on time and waited....and waited ....and waited. Eventually we got our own menus and eventually gave our order for food and drinks. After some delays we all got our drinks and glasses (3 attempts to get there) and we waited ..... at 8.45... More

Hello, we do apologise most sincerely about your experience, the night in question we ended up very short staffed due to sickness, I know this is no excuse but to make up for it I would be more than happy to arrange a heavily discounted meal and a bottle of wine for you if you would like to return by... Unless you have heavy duty earplugs, cast iron stomach and a bottle of bleach!! Walls are paper thin, could hear next door making their cuppa amongst other things! Restaurant food was awful and service there was equally as bad! Rooms and restaurant In need of a good clean, Plumbing bangs and clangs like nothing I've ever heard! Certainly an experience... More

Very quiet, character Pub/Hotel. Food OK. Decor in the rooms a little frayed in places but comfortable, warm and very clean. Breakfast was enormous! WiFi is free but difficult to get decent reception - but then it's difficult to get decent mobile reception in Clare anyway. Would book again.

we only wanted two chicken wraps... we waited over an hour and after I asked they came 15 mins later. Staff tell blatant lies about things will be ready. Another group of people finally gave up and asked for the money back as their food failed to show up. Seriously, these people haven't a clue how to run a pub.

We went here for new years eve 2013 - what an absolute rip off! We went for the full ticket to include champagne on arrival (we had to ask for it and then it was warm), canapés (nowhere to be seen), the 3 course meal (some dishes not as described with items missing, cold vegetables) and to finishing dancing to... I deceided to take my partner out for dinner on bank holiday Sunday and opted for the Bell in Clare Suffolk as I had heard the food was good, BIG MISTAKE!!. We arrived to an empty resturant but thought at least the service would be quick as we were the only ones in the resturant. We ordered our drinks and... More
