My and my family have ways loved this place. We came back for Sunday lunch after not visiting for a while due to being so busy! And it's still as good and beautiful as ever. Will always recommend this place

Visited on a Tuesday evening with my wife. Had been before, just for drinks and found it to be a lovely place, great old thatched building with a good selection of ales and wine. What a disappointment the food was. We went for the roast dinner. Portions were large, but the beef was tough and stringy, the roast potatoes could... More

Visited here today and the 4 of us had the Carvery roast with loads of lovely vegetables and sauces. Food was piping hot and very tasty. Despite looking very busy, the service was quick and staff very pleasant. Our meal was closely followed by fabbie home made desserts and coffee. Looking forward to coming back next time we are in... Planned a meal for 4 friends last night after many a very nice meal. Sadly it was not as good as usual. I do not appreciate as a non smoker having to walk through the archway of smokers at a front door.... Really off putting. Bar Service good. Starters ok, salmon mousse a sad sloppy mix of Mayo and salmon.... More

I stayed with my husband for Valentines weekend. The young Manager was professional and welcoming without being intrusive. Our room was warm , cosy and spacious, with all the charm of a very old building. Wonky floors the lot. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and the locals who seem to treat the place as home from home were friendly... More

Went for lunch with friends I hadn't seen for 20 years. Have been here before with family and loved it. Wanted somewhere today where we could sit and chat with no worries about being rushed that provided a filling meal that wasn't going to cost the earth.... And that's what we got. Fish and chips 2 lasagnes with garlic bread... More

I've visited this pub for a meal in Dec 2014 and Jan 2015. On both occasions the food choice was extensive and wasn't just 'Christmas food', a welcome change. Good welcome from staff and a good atmosphere inside. Food and drink was of good quality and appropriately priced. Good, prompt service. Watch out for the low beams!

As we were within 5 miles of The Four Horseshoes decided to give it a try, very warm professional greeting, menu had a good choice with option of snack size or regular (excellent idea) we chose local sausage and mash and fish and chips, both were very good and served with a smile. Great place to eat, very good food... More

This is a great pub as long as you aren't too tall my husband always has to duck to get in the door! Again great service great food and as i don't eat a lot i can always order a small portion of most of the meals that are on the menu. Only one complaint the plate could have been... More
