Had a family dinner here on Saturday. It is a lovely pub and a beautiful setting. The restaurant was busy so obviously a popular stop. The food was a bit of a let down but it may have just been me. The portions are generous but the crab salad was very heavy on basic stuff and a bit light on... More

We experienced a Sunday Carvey at the four horse shoes. We all had Turkey with all the trimmings. It was all fine, far better than our previous visit a few years ago. The pudding were good and the beer went down a treat. Hope to go again.

We had a meal here while staying nearby. Food was average the portions were big. Sticky toffee pudding was very good. Service was good and staff very friendly. We took our dog with us too was only aloud in the bar area to eat tho but that was fine by us.

Light lunch today but a good varied menu. Efficient, polite staff, fabulous food. An old favourite which still produces all the components for a lovely meal out. Such a pretty building and well tended outdoor space. We have visitors coming from Japan in August and are going to bring them for a carvery so they experience the best of English... More

Return visit for lunch after a fairly long absence due to illness. It was like coming home! Great welcome from Tom the young owner - always makes his clientele feel really special. Terrific atmosphere with young, bright enthusiastic bar and waiting staff. Huge range of food on offer and, helpfully for us, they cater for the small appetite as well... More

Visited on a Tuesday evening with my wife. Had been before, just for drinks and found it to be a lovely place, great old thatched building with a good selection of ales and wine. What a disappointment the food was. We went for the roast dinner. Portions were large, but the beef was tough and stringy, the roast potatoes could... More

Visited here today and the 4 of us had the Carvery roast with loads of lovely vegetables and sauces. Food was piping hot and very tasty. Despite looking very busy, the service was quick and staff very pleasant. Our meal was closely followed by fabbie home made desserts and coffee. Looking forward to coming back next time we are in... Planned a meal for 4 friends last night after many a very nice meal. Sadly it was not as good as usual. I do not appreciate as a non smoker having to walk through the archway of smokers at a front door.... Really off putting. Bar Service good. Starters ok, salmon mousse a sad sloppy mix of Mayo and salmon.... More

I stayed with my husband for Valentines weekend. The young Manager was professional and welcoming without being intrusive. Our room was warm , cosy and spacious, with all the charm of a very old building. Wonky floors the lot. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and the locals who seem to treat the place as home from home were friendly... More

Went for lunch with friends I hadn't seen for 20 years. Have been here before with family and loved it. Wanted somewhere today where we could sit and chat with no worries about being rushed that provided a filling meal that wasn't going to cost the earth.... And that's what we got. Fish and chips 2 lasagnes with garlic bread... More
