We received a great welcome and were allocated ideal rooms for the family and the dog! They had no objection even though we had been hiking on the South Downs Way all day. The rooms are really cosy and comfortable and have great character. The gardens are very pretty and well maintained. The pool is a plus. Breakfast just wonderful... More

Charming staff, homely room and amazing breakfast with linen tablecloths and roses on the table. Generally welcoming warm and cosy room. The garden is a joy. Steyning is a historic town that has something for everyone.

Myself and my OH travelled to Steyning with two under 5's and stayed at the delightful Springwells Hotel. This was a treat for me as I normally stay with friends in the area, but I'd stayed at the hotel over twenty years before and I wanted to enjoy the experience again. It didn't disappoint at all. The hotel is full... More

I absolutely adored my stay at the lovely Springwells! I was greeted with a complimentary glass of prosecco and shown to the lovely, homely 'Yew' room. The view of the garden was absolutely beautiful and the room was just so welcoming. On the landings of the hotel is a variety of books to read, a basket of neccesary items easily... More

My wife and I had a lovely stay here: the pool almost puts it into a 5 star as far as we were concerned. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the hotel is very charming indeed. Of course that means the stairs are narrow and steep, and the rooms are a little cramped, but we didn't mind that... More

recently, 4 of us - a group of friends stayed here half way through doing the South Downs Way in 6 days - we loved it. Lovely staff, quite basic but very quaint and comfortable rooms and bathrooms, and the pool to die for on our weary bones and feet having walked 17 miles . We had exceptional weather and... More

Had a nice stay here , 4 of us on the last leg of our SD walk. One of our group used the pool and said it was pleasant. Yes it is a little old fashioned but it is also homely with friendly staff. Very close ( staggering - and I was ) distance to a a good local pub... More

Springwells is a decent hotel but is drastically in need of an update. It seems to be stuck in the 70's with the decor and furnishings. We had to leave very early the next day and couldn't make breakfast but were not offered any reduction in the room rate, and the advertised free cheeseboard was nowhere to be seen and... More

The room was a bit dated, as others have said, but certainly more than adequate. More importantly, the staff including the owner, were very helpful. They provided laundry service at no cost, and the owner very graciously drove me back up to the South Downs Way the next morning. That was a very generous gesture on his part. Breakfast was... More
