My wife and I had a lovely stay here: the pool almost puts it into a 5 star as far as we were concerned. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the hotel is very charming indeed. Of course that means the stairs are narrow and steep, and the rooms are a little cramped, but we didn't mind that... More

recently, 4 of us - a group of friends stayed here half way through doing the South Downs Way in 6 days - we loved it. Lovely staff, quite basic but very quaint and comfortable rooms and bathrooms, and the pool to die for on our weary bones and feet having walked 17 miles . We had exceptional weather and... More

Had a nice stay here , 4 of us on the last leg of our SD walk. One of our group used the pool and said it was pleasant. Yes it is a little old fashioned but it is also homely with friendly staff. Very close ( staggering - and I was ) distance to a a good local pub... More

Springwells is a decent hotel but is drastically in need of an update. It seems to be stuck in the 70's with the decor and furnishings. We had to leave very early the next day and couldn't make breakfast but were not offered any reduction in the room rate, and the advertised free cheeseboard was nowhere to be seen and... More

The room was a bit dated, as others have said, but certainly more than adequate. More importantly, the staff including the owner, were very helpful. They provided laundry service at no cost, and the owner very graciously drove me back up to the South Downs Way the next morning. That was a very generous gesture on his part. Breakfast was... More

Me and my sister stayed at Springwell Hotel for 2 nights in early june 2014 and we had a wonderful time. The room itself was roomy, clean and charming having facility to prepare of our own tea or coffee .Rooms were equipped with wall mount large flat screen TV with a variety of optional channels. We had access to the... More

We were met by a Italian gentleman who was amusingly particular about signing in and a bit unintentionally brusque so the names Basil and Sybil immediately came up for all of us. It's clean and comfortable but rather overpriced for what it is. And basically it needs a lot of investment to bring it up to scratch. For example the... More

Had a one night stay here. Looks great from the outside but the room we had, at the back of the hotel, whilst very private, was looking tired and dated. A plus was the swimming pool, outdoors which we used as the weather was fine. Breakfast really good but they obviously don't like serving late. I say this as the... More

Very comfortable if not a little tired looking inside. Rooms could do with updating but they are perfectly adequate. My only real gripe was having a shower room instead of a bath. The breakfast was amazing though. Great fry up with fresh mushrooms cooked in butter rather than poached as many hotels seem to do these days. I would probably... More

This is the third time of staying here - 1984 for honeymoon, 2009 and now, . We arrived on the Thursday 19th and stayed two days. It was a very wet day and the pine tree in front of the hotel was shedding its needles on the pavement and in the gutters at the front of the hotel. We had... More
