We stayed here a while back ((before the drop-down menu options) which may preclude this being posted, but if it does appear, bear this in mind). It was an off-chance walk-up request as we had not planned on staying over in the area and we had spent the day travelling around. We were offered a couple of options, including the... More

We stayed at the guest house Friday to Sunday and had a lovely stay. Our room was spotless and clean and the furnishings in keeping with the character of the building. The hosts were very friendly Carol was a real character and nothing was too much trouble. She gave us help with bus times, train timetable and local knowledge. The breakfast... More

We only stayed for two nights at the Beacon. The house is a large Victorian structure and is furnished with a lot of brown furniture from around that time, definitely in keeping--IKEA furniture would not look right. The hostess, Carole, is very welcoming and takes time and trouble to ensure the stay is memorable. We had the large room overlooking... More

We had a lovely stay here, Carole was a great host, nothing was to much bother for her or the two other girls we saw serving breakfast, which was simply brilliant, a full english and plenty of it, or there was cereal, yoghurt and fruit etc, so loads of choice for everyone, we had the annexe rooms which where very... Very welcoming bed and breakfast. Ideal for a family break. Perfect location. Lovely family room. Great breakfast room and very good breakfast choice. Friendly owners. We took our 7 year old son's bike and he enjoyed cycling up and down the long drive.

We booked via Late Rooms.com and were uncertain what to expect, having travelled 430 miles from Cornwall. But what a delight! A guest house with bags of character. We had the superior room, which was large and comfortable with lovely views over the moors. The bed king size with crisp white bed linen. The en-suite was clean with an excellent... More

We enjoy staying here as we are great fans of heartbeat. Carole does a great breakfast and is such a warm and friendly host. The room is ideal for us as we are both not so good on our pins these days. Parking just feet from the door and a huge shower room . The atmosphere is comfortable and you... More

We've just spent our 4 th wet weather Wartime weekend with Carole and Bob and, once again, had a wonderful weekend being looked after by them. A wonderful Breakfast is served in the conservatory with plenty of banter between Carole and her guests. As a contrast to the modern conservatory, the rest of the house is full of character and... Well situated, lovely views, good breakfast. Paid for superior double but have stayed in much better for the money. The bed was comfortable, excellent sheets but bedspead was tatty and wanted replacing as did the headboard. The ensuite needed attention, mould evident in several places. We think the room and ensuite just wanted redecorating and maybe the annex would have... More

Thank you for your comments. The room you stayed in is popular with guests and a re-vamp is planned during the winter. Unfortunately, during the summer months we like to open the windows, and this results in a lot of insects in the conservatory. We appreciate your concerns and will be more aware for future guests.
