Like many, we thought we'd have a drink in the "Adensfield Arms" and I think this is what the landlord relies on as he made no effort to be friendly. My request for a cappucino was greeted with reluctance. The tables outside were all covered with dirty glasses although the hotel was not busy. I would not recommend this hotel and... More

We visited with our 7 month old son and my parents. We sat quietly in the snug and the waitress came through and said no kids go in family room she wasn't polite at all and the other staff looked grumpy. We were happy to move but a little courtesy doesn't go a miss. Also the toilets need updating as... More

We stopped off here for coffee and toasted tea cake on a very cold and windy July day. Service was pleasant and the toasted tea cake was lovely and hot and the butter nicely cold. A step back in time The walls were covered with photos of the stars of the series and of course we had to take photos... More

When you get to Goathland you step back in time so of course the hotel is in keeping with the village and so it should. We found the staff friendly and helpful, breakfast was lovely, room was dated but we expected this. Good sized twin room with lovely views. If you want to stay in a modern no atmosphere hotel,... We'd read reviews of this hotel and tried to get in somewhere else and this was the only hotel that came up as haveing rooms available that take dogs. It turns out there had been a cock up with the room booking but they gave us a room overlooking Scripps garage. The room was tiny and although clean, VERY dated.... More

Did the 'Heartbeat' thing with our daughter, son-in-law and four young grandchildren last week. Took longer to get there than we imagined, arriving at village around 9pm with grandchildren needing the loo. Only establishment open was the Goathland Hotel, so our daughter went in with our well-dressed and well-mannered grandchildren seeking mercy and help, only to be turned curtly away!... More

I enjoyed my stay. It was a little dated , but it suited its surroundings with the heartbeat feel. The staff were friendly. One in particular . A lovely Italian barmaid . Who added to the enjoyment of my stay. With her friendly funny banter. Especially with England playing Italy in the World Cup . Unfortunately England lost. So that... More

Stayed one night at this hotel, and will definately not be returning. I thought the hotel was very tired and dated, The bed was extremely comfortable. The bar area was devoid of any atmosphere, and would have been absolutely terrible if not for the pleasant and cheerful barmaid, who was doing her best to cheer up the awful surroundings. She... Sorry to say this venue was not up to the standard we would expect from some of the reviews written. We did not find a warm welcome, and felt that the Hotel was tired and underfunded. The room was up 3 flights of stairs which was awkward as we had 2 dogs booked in. We were not told this and... More

We stayed at this place recently. It would have to be with out a doubt the worst hotel,Band B we have ever stayed in.When we arrived at 1 pm we were rudely told that we could not get into the room until 2 pm. Once in it was a dingy small room Shower was hard to use and was dirty. This is... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to our traditional local pub and hotel. We have become world famous by sheer accident but for the very reasons Yorkshire Television chose us we like to think that the very best of an English village pub has been delivered to an international audience. Our belief is that many come because of the fictional Aidensfield but return for the spirit that is Goathland. Essentially we offer the convenience of a small hotel but with a big personality. The hotel has eight en-suite bedrooms; they all have individual characteristics and views of our wonderful moors and timeless village. Our rooms reflect the traditional building and retain all the charm and character of yesteryear. The rooms are all fully equipped with 32" LCD Televisions with Freeview, Tea, Coffee and Hot Chocolate making facilities and of course all fresh white linens. ... more   less
