We stopped off at the Lodge overnight en-route back from the Highlands. Initial impressions were of a hotel that needed a bit of TLC and that impression didn't really change through our stay. We'd booked an executive room (bigger TV, bigger bed) but found the bed very uncomfortable and barely slept at all. The room was spacious and clean though... more

A good value overnight stop hotel, that is ideally located as an overnight stop just before Scotch Corner on the A1. However, it could really do with a lick of paint and freshening up, if it wants to compete with Premier Inn. First impressions of the reception, were of the lovely odour of a smelly dog. Staff were friendly if... more

We stopped for one night on our way to Edinburgh. Lovely courtyard, quiet spot, friendly accommodating staff. We enjoyed the food and the bar. Others traveling with us did not like the rooms on the McDonald's side, too noisy, but our room was delightful! more

I have visited this place for work recently. When I was told that I was to stay in an hotel at a service station on the A1 I was concerned that I would be in little more than a ropey "Crossroads" type of place. I am very pleased to confirm that the reality was far better than my imagination led... more

We stayed at this hotel roughly six month's ago and it was fantastic. However we returned recently and the hotel still had a good standard of room's ( we on both occassions stayed in the executive room's) but found that breakfast had become very poor. Your choice is basically cereal or a breakfast from the baine marie which is very... more

The lodge is in a fantastic location - about 2 seconds from the A1, but even being this close you cannot hear any noise from the road!! It has recently had a refurb and as a result is clean and pleasent to stay in. However there is at present a problem with the heating system and as a result some... more

We booked a weekend special at £44.50, B & B for two people per night. Before going on our trip I rang the hotel to ask for a quiet room away from the busy A1 and car parks. We were greeted by friendly staff and sure enough, we had a just what we asked for. Walking down the corridor to... more

We booked from 21-24 September 2007. The normal rate is £75 but by searching through various hotel booking websites, we managed to get a rate of £44 including breakfast. The hotel is located at the Leeming Bar Services on the A1. There also an adjacent gift shop which coffers magazines, papers and various local stuff at over the top prices!... more
