Stopped by a few weeks ago around seven on a Sunday and it was the best meal I have had this year. The staff were great, drinks were great and the food even better! The menu offered good choices, there was something for everyone and the specials were extremely well thought out. I can't recommend it enough!

We decided to visit the Red Lion for Sunday Lunch and checked the reviews on Tripadvisor, which mainly seemed to be favourable, but alas we found it to be well below the standard we expected. Prices 2 Glasses of wine and a pint of bitter almost £15 Excessive Roast Beef, Yorkshire Pudding and a couple of roast potato £14.95 Food... More

Firstly thank you for taking the time to review us, I will address each issue you have raised, the 2 glasses of wine were large glasses and this is roughly 1/3 of a bottle, we do not think we charge excessively for this or our beer @ £3.40, the prices are all on a price list hung on the wall... We enjoyed a fine evening meal here. Service was excellent with friendly and attentive staff. Only four stars though as our food was slow to appear. In mitigation they came and apologised and were obviously extremely busy. When it arrived it was excellent. Well above the standard I expect for the price.

Stayed here while on business in Leeds due to a failed hotel reservation. Hope I have more failed reservations in the future. My stay was excellent. Food was really good including the breakfast. Loved the black pudding. Room was ok but if your staying here it's not the room you have come for. If you want a better room try... More

We have just returned from a weekend stay at the Red Lion for 'tour de yorkshire' and already we are planning a return trip. We stayed in room 1 at the red lion which was cosy, spacious and clean and provided the best nights sleep we've had away from home. The staff are in abundance and so welcoming and both... More

We recently stayed here for an overnight stop as part of our walking holiday. The staff were very friendly and keen to ensure we had everything we needed for our stay. Our room though small was very comfortable and the en suite well provided with an good range of luxury bath products, which were welcomed after our days walking. The... More

This was my second stay at the Red Lion and I will happliy come back again. Beautiful location, interesting menu, fresh coffee in the bedrooms, and hard working and friendly staff - and there seem to be lots of them. I was particularly impressed when I saw one of them vacuuming the outside steps to the function room.

Thank you for taking the time to review us, all our staff work very hard and yes we do hoover the outside steps as we hold lots of weddings here and the confetti gets stuck on them! This is a great base for all the outdoor pursuits you mention, fishing, walking, cycling etc. and the scenery is fabulous too! We... More

Just returned from a fab visit, looked after by the lovely sisters that run this place. From the moment we walked in they saw to our every need and although the place was buzzing, they were never fazed. The rooms in the pub are superb. Clean, good linen and wonderful fixtures and fittings, specialist water and as much tea, coffee, hot... More

The Red Lion is somewhere we always go back to, even if it's not as often as we'd like. I could waste your time by writing a detailed analysis of everything that's right or wrong with the place, but if you want a traditional country hotel in a great location, full of Yorkshire charm, then this is the place.

Stayed 2 nights, in their manor house rooms, when at a friend's wedding. The beds were comfortable, and the facilities and amenities were good. No lift in the building, which was a short walk from where breakfast is served, so might make it difficult for some. Room did tend to get a little warm, as small windows hardly opened. Breakfast... Many thanks for your review, pleased you liked our location, food and service. The Manor House only has 11 rooms and hardly qualifies for a lift, however we are always more than happy to carry bags over for any guests and if anyone who is no too nimble on their pins lets us know we always allocate the most appropriate...
