A welcome sight in the distance when walking across bleak moors. Evening meal excellent and a good breakfast and packed lunch. Rooms were comfortable with a bath - ideal after a day walking across the moors.

i loved this character hotel. It reeked with history and charm. You have to duck if you're taller than 5 foot to get through some of the doorways, but it adds to its charm. It is ideal for hikers on the Coast to Coast track. After soaking in our bath and delighting in the exposed beans and character windows in... More

We were doing a some walking on the NY moors so decided to stay the night at the Blakey Inn a place that I had found memeories of in the past and have never really been disappointed with the food. On the whole I was really disappointed with the experience, the room was very tight , small, squashed but that didn't... More

We have been eating at The Lion for several years, and on our holiday to North Yorkshire this year we returned - and we were not disappointed. We ate three times at The Lion - once just my wife and I; once with our daughter and her partner and my wife's mother; and once with our daughter and her partner.... More

Like many of the Lion Inn reviews we stayed here as part of our Coast to Coast walk but were pleased to see how many local people were eating and staying here. It's location is perfect for walkers not just the Coast to Coasters but everybody who wants to walk and enjoy the Moors. Our bedroom was very clean and... More

Our stay here while walking the C2C a second time was just as enjoyable as the first despite the fact the room (Room 6) was noticeably smaller. (I think we may have been spoiled by having Room 14 the first time). Most of the staff were friendly and pleasant. The older part of the building is steeped in history and... More

Like most of the reviewers we stayed here for one night while doing the Coast to Coast. This is a "must stay" stop on the walk through the moors. Our room was more modern than I expected, especially the nice large bathroom. Very comfortable beds. The only problem I had sleeping is that it gets light so early in June... More

Agree with all comments we read concerning this remote gem . If there is an heaven this should be the gates !!! Great food & accommodation (although the "small twin room was small) .Ideal location for good walks and we loved (11 of us) the choice of draught beers . Advice to anyone thinking of having a starter for your... More

Seeing the Lion Inn on the horizon was such a treat. It was a cold and windy day and stepping into this 400 year old building was heavenly. The greetings were warm and the rooms, pub, food and people warmed our hearts. We loved the low ceilings and seeing locals as well as travelers mixing in the many rooms. We... More

Absolutely impressed with this 500 year old Inn, Pub and restaurant. Beautiful beams running across the ceiling and the fire places that make it a really cozy atmosphere. We had a room that included a canopy bed and fabulous NEW bathroom. Our friends got th#14 suite, you might want to ask for it.
