An extremely busy Hotel/Restaurant bar. A comfortable ensuite bedroom on the ground floor. We ate in the restaurant, the menu was extensive with a great special board too. All value for money with friendly service.

Stayed here for a night while doing the C2C walk. Great site to view across the Moor when you've just done a 23 mile walk! Dinner was superb, big portions, well cooked and great service. This might sound fussy, but sadly this was let down by not having proper porridge on the breakfast menu (a must for walkers!) and we... More

This is a renowned popular venue for local people wanting a drive out for a drink or a meal or for walkers on one of the many long distance trails that cross the moor, as was the case with us. The views from the car park are far reaching and for walkers, the high location of the inn can be... More

Some friends and I have recently completed walking Wainwright's Coast to Coast. After tramping across the moors for hours, we found, to our delight, that this was our B&B accommodation for the night. What a sight for sore feet when we entered the door. A warm welcome, wonderful food and just brilliant, friendly locals and staff. It's in the middle... More

Nearing the end of our C2C adventure it was good to stay at such an iconic place. The Lion has been around since the 1600's and this is reflected well with the photos, info, furniture and pottery all over the rambling [in a pleasant way/ rooms. It suffers from extreme weather - beautiful sunshine with views that are breath taking... More

We stayed here on the Coast to Coast walk. We walked from Clay Bank Top and it is one of the easiest days on route walking wise so we had considered continuing to Glaisdale but were glad we had booked a night here. Arriving at lunchtime, we enjoyed a tasty lunch and spent the afternoon chatting to fellow travellers in... More

We stayed here while walking the Coast to Coast. Fabulous location on top of the desolate moors, a welcome sight for weary legs! They run a very efficient service especially for all the walkers who stop here for lunch before plodding onwards, or, like us, stop for the night. Dinner was huge and tasty. Our room was obviously small as... More

Stayed here for three days. The food is very good and the portions are huge. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. We had to change rooms due to late booking, our first room was not huge but this was more than made up for when we moved to room 14. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We... More

Few visits to North Yorkshire would be complete without a stop at the lion Inn on Blakey Ridge, the inn has a long history of providing refreshments and shelter to walkers, cyclists and motorists alike. Our meal was both of great quality and substantial size which left us well fed for the rest of the day.
